Posted September 2, 200915 yr Just had the misfortune to sit through Sky's programme on the best ever CL goals and you really would think that we have had no part in the competition over the last 10 years or so... Now I only saw the top 20 and Essien's classic vs Barca was no. 3 but that was our only mention. Including being the 'recipients' of the goal... So that means 1. No place for Frankie's goal vs Barca 2. No place for Frankie's goal vs Munich The top goal went to ZZ's ok effort in the most boring game of all time. I still feel we should boycott the competition this year and embarrass the f**k out of Platini.

Lampard's goal from an impossible angle against Barca was in there though, I think it was around the mid to late twenties.
September 3, 200915 yr I don't suppose they included this beauty, did they? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hfo2dOAFyk
September 3, 200915 yr My Fav Champions League goal of all time, was I think away to Porto funnily enough (I might be wrong) Was Joey on the Half way line spun and chipped it superbly into Drogbas path and then he just ran on a slid it in... Trouble is good goals to these people mean normally 30 yard screamers, which is fine, but the art of football as a team game means it is not just about the finish surely... and...What about Joey in the match away to Munich, again to Drogba, brilliant cross and header, again making the game look simple.. brilliant. (I urge any Chelsea fan to get a re-run of that match and watch Joe Cole, and tell me it isn't up there with one of the best Champions League performances, I have been shot down for saying this but as good as Keanes agains Juve, but it is ! ) Show non Bias, Ronaldhino against us at The Bridge was special too. Mike - I would love us to do something as a club to stick two fingers up at UEFA, I dream of the day. But it will never happen ........ Maybe we will win it one day beating Manure or Real in the final a record 10 nil then Drogba takes a massive dump in the trophy as millions watch on :D

I think the goal you mention was against Valencia (JT was wearing a mask) and indeed it was a great goal. Also there were plenty of screamers in the count down but there was also plenty of maze-ups, passing moves and counter attacks too.

September 3, 200915 yr That cross from SWP for Hernan Crespo is probably up there with the best crosses I have ever seen.
September 3, 200915 yr That cross from SWP for Hernan Crespo is probably up there with the best crosses I have ever seen. it was a belting cross, remembered mainly as the only decent bloody cross he did for us...
September 3, 200915 yr Was against Valencia away, and it was a truly brilliant goal. ;) Was that the one where Joey basically bent the ball around the defender and right to Drogs? I was trying to remember what game that was from.
September 3, 200915 yr That cross from SWP for Hernan Crespo is probably up there with the best crosses I have ever seen. I agree. It was just phenomenal. I can't think of a cross like it. There have been some beautiful, flighted, curling crosses, but that was just incredible - like an arrow, and to hit it on the half-volley on the run as well. And Lamps's pass was also superb. And the header was not bad, Sadly, Sweep's other crosses prove it was just a complete fluke.

Joey's through ball was a thing of beauty. Wasn't that Avram's first game? I seem to remember it being the one when drog came close to going on stricke over José's departure.

One Gianluca Vialli crossing for one Gianfranco Zola to score the second against Vicenza.

That was a stunning inch-perfect cross on the run from wide out - and Zola's header was a replica of Crespo's - but Vialli didn't hit a bouncing ball on the half-volley and pull it back for a player yards behind him like SWP!
