Think this was originally posted here, Id saved it into a file and forgot about it . For anybody who hasnt read it , its worth a look, very well written. Thinks it over a year and a half old , you'll see why when you read .

Chelsea have always had an image. Not necessarily a footballing image of the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs - hell, even West Ham.

No, Chelsea have always had to have something a bit different. From the playboys of the Kings Road to the notorious Headhunters.

The glamour club or the scum of the earth, Raquel Welch or electric fences, no half measures for us. Lets face it, we wouldn't have it any other way. It's history. Not the sanitised, airbrushed history that the great and the good prefer for themselves, but a warts'n'all history that owes more to realism than Roy of the Rovers.

In more recent times, being a Chelsea supporter has been viewed with something midway between loathing, pity and ridicule. In the 80's there was never a shortage of people willing to tell anyone who would listen exactly what was wrong with the club. It was worth a few column inches as we were big enough to be news but never big enough to be a threat to anyone (headhunters apart). Ken Bates was always good for a few lines too, but he was always more Dr Evil than Blofeldt.

And then it changed. Whilst the progression wasn't sudden, coming as it did from the roots set down by Hoddle and progressed through Gullitt, Vialli and Ranieri, it sneaked up on the establishment in a way which draws parallels with an era from the world of Rock'n'Roll.

That's where the title of this piece comes in. "Go on, say Something Outrageous". The words of TV presenter Bill Grundy who decided to hop on the shirt tails of publicity that followed a new phenomena that didn't just hit British music, it ploughed into it at 100 miles an hour.

The Sex Pistols.

The industry and establishment hated them, but they couldn't ignore them. Labels like Virgin & EMI tried to get them under control - without success. They hit out at the sacred cows of society, broke all the rules and gave a platform to acts that would be shaping modern music for years to come.

And in this same vein, Chelsea are the Sex Pistols of football. Instead of the Beatles, Stones, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Fleetwood Mac and the rest it has been Utd, Liverpool & Arsenal that have been steamrollered. Whilst others still had hits, and other teams still win cups, the real news is at Chelsea just as it was the Pistols nearly 30 years ago. This is where it's happening.

Jose Mourinho is the present day Johnny Rotten - self opinionated, charismatic, despised and revered in equal amounts but a bit special whichever way you look at it.

Peter Kenyon is the Svengali-like Malcolm MacLaren. Always eager to get into the act and make a few waves without ever really being part of the 'team'. Both talented at marketing their respective 'products' yet mistrusted by the rank and file.

Claudio Ranieri was Glenn Matlock. A great musician cruelly underestimated and edged out when his image didn't fit.

Cooke & Jones have to be JT & Lamps. Paul Cooke was the heartbeat of the band and always kept the beat no matter what went on around him, in much the same way as Lamps keeps the midfield ticking over with the easy ball or the occasional defence splitting pass whilst always able to raise the tempo with a net bursting shot. Steve Jones and John Terry are two peas in a pod. Always up front and in your face, providing the rhythm of the team/band.

Sid? Now there's a difficult one. Sid Vicious was always on a course of self destruction and you wouldn't really want to equate any of the Chelsea team with that. I'll leave that one open and take the cowards way out by stating that he wasn't one of the original Pistols. At least until we re-sign Vinnie Jones.

Mr Gaillard of UEFA proclaimed Chelsea "enemies of football" after the retirement of New Romantic Anders Friske. He was wrong. As the lyric goes, "We're the future, your future".

Thats the list from the website isnt it ? Always been a little dubious about it. The Depeche Mode guys are Sperz fans im sure. John Taylor is definitely Villa. And how do they honestly know that rappers US Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne follow the Chels!! Also how can Geri Halliwell and Dnni Minouge really claim to be fans!!!

Any list that cant spell Zeppelin needs to be approached with caution!

Having said that there is a load more that are not on there too....

Tony Banks & David Mellor missing from list or do politicians not count ?

Thats just the music section of Celeb fans Ian.

Never really counted Mellor as Chelsea fan because he is such a twat and openly admits he used to follow Fulham. Tony Banks (RIP) was Chelsea though and though.

I just had a look at the full list, and wouldn't mind an all-night session with Sienna Miller, Minnie Driver, Dervla Kirwan, Danni Minogue and Nigella Lawson - discussing Chelsea, naturally ;)

Having said that, I reckon Chelsea could afford to offload the likes of so-called fans like David Baddiel, Jeremy Vine, Sebastian Coe, David Mellor, Bill Oddie & Russell Grant - what a bunch of utter w*nkers!

One question - the list contains a geezer called Justin Chancellor - Tool. Is this a band he's in, or is it a description of the bloke?

You can safely add Kevin Garnett - US Basketball Player to the list after seeing these adidas TS Commander Lite Chelsea KG Shoes

EDIT: I see he is on the full list, but that link is still worth a laugh. Although... I would like to see him actually wearing those!

i like the shoes ...

oh and busta rhymes is a chelsea fan :D good boy ::clap2::

Sod Chelsea. Id far prefer to shag them all senseless.

Starting and finishing with Nigella.
