July 1, 201115 yr That seems to be the consensus among those I've talked to who didn't particularly like it. I've talked to loads who absolutely adored it, but some said basically the exact same as you just did. It could have been explored further, you're right, but I loved how it was a summer blockbuster that actually made you think. Compared to Transformers 3, this summer's big blockbuster (after Harry Potter), you came out of Inception with a Cambridge degree. The whole IDEA is amazing, it leaves it open to be explored. I doubt there'll be a sequel because it had such a quality reception, but it's left it open to discussion and people are genuinely still talking about it.
July 1, 201115 yr You are comparing an adult film (Inception) to a couple of children's films (Harry Potter and Transformers)? I think Cambridge graduates may have a right to feel a little insulted here, Ruh Buh Juh!
July 2, 201115 yr You are comparing an adult film (Inception) to a couple of children's films (Harry Potter and Transformers)? I think Cambridge graduates may have a right to feel a little insulted here, Ruh Buh Juh! You're taking things out of context!
July 2, 201115 yr Hey, Transformers aint a kiddo movie! Sorry, Andreas. I haven't seen it, so shouldn't have commented. I just assumed because I've heard children raving aboiut it that it was a children's film
July 2, 201115 yr Hey, Transformers aint a kiddo movie! It's based on a series of toy robots for kids(and Saturday morning cartoons) and in Finland it's rated K-11, which means kids over the age of 11 can watch it alone and kids older than 9 can watch it if accompanied by an adult, so I'd say it's not that unreasonable to call it a kids movie(well, kids and teens). They might not be for small kids, but I get the feeling that the Saturday morning cartoons(which I watched as a kid) had more sophisticated plot lines than the movies. Don't get me wrong, I like a good action movie, but the emphasis is on the word "good". A few visually stunning scenes are not enough to make a good movie. Especially when it looks more like a video game than a movie. Don't get me wrong here either, because I love (some) video games as well, but I like to play them, not watch them and many video games have better plots than these movies. Ok, I got sidetracked a little, because being a kids movie has nothing to do with being a good or a bad movie or with having a good script, but anyway... I think it's not all that unreasonable to call them kids movies when they're definitely part of the target audience.
July 2, 201115 yr It's certainly not for real adults, who like joined up dialogue then! Sorry, I was in a bad mood last night, Ruh Buh Juh.
July 2, 201115 yr Im with moi here, Inception was a decent idea done badly. I dont get the mass w**king over it at all, a very average film at best.
July 2, 201115 yr Im with moi here, Inception was a decent idea done badly. I thought moi said it was a crap idea done badly...
July 2, 201115 yr I thought moi said it was a crap idea done badly... I thought she said it was a decent idea? Oh well, I still think it was done badly, very badly actually. The hype around it seemed to cloud some peoples perception of it.
July 2, 201115 yr Anyone seen the new transformers anyway? heard that the girl replacing fox was just as sh*t when it came to the acting, if not worse and I certainely prefer to look at megan if I had to choose :P
July 2, 201115 yr I thought she said it was a decent idea? I said it was an interesting idea, but the interesting concept was wasted. Moi said: "The concept is crap, the telling of it was crap. What more can I say???" ;)
July 2, 201115 yr I actually quite like the Transformer films for what they are, switch your brain off, CGI madness. I read one review of the first one that said they were dissapointed with the storyline, it didnt have enough depth etc...clown. The 2nd one was a bit rubbish though, I had no idea what was going on at times. The 3rd is supposed to be a lot better though, but as Andreas says its a shame the very hot mrs Fox wont be on it.
July 2, 201115 yr I said it was an interesting idea, but the interesting concept was wasted. Moi said: "The concept is crap, the telling of it was crap. What more can I say???" ;) Right. So i got something slightly wrong, how dare I.

July 2, 201115 yr I doubt either of them were hired for their acting skills... ;) They can act me any time.... Actually Im not sure that works. They can play a role with me any time.... Yeah, thats better.. :D
July 2, 201115 yr Right. So i got something slightly wrong, how dare I. There's such a fine line between decent and crap...
July 2, 201115 yr I thought Inception was a good movie. The idea was interesting and the execution was good enough. Decent acting as well. In no way is is the best movie ever, not even the best movie that year (probably not even in the top 3). I think many praise it way too much. It's like with The Dark Knight. It's a good movie, but not the movie equivalent of the 2nd coming of Jesus. Transformers however has to be viewed for what it is - 100% action and adrenaline. In that aspect the first movie was okay, but the 2nd one was absolute crap. Not even the action scenes could keep me awake. Haven't seen the third one yet, but might do it soon because my father want to see it (he'll take a crap movie as long as it has some action - and preferably some good-looking women). Must say that I think it's a bit ridiculous to replace Megan Fox with another fine looking woman. I can imagine how they were thinking: - "Damn, we had to fire Megan Fox because she said too much. Should we just have Shia as the lone star?" - "F*ck no! Do you have any idea how many young males will watch this movie? They need someone to masturbate to when there's no action on screen."
July 2, 201115 yr I can imagine how they were thinking: - "Damn, we had to fire Megan Fox because she said too much. Should we just have Shia as the lone star?" Shia doesn't have the charisma to carry a bag of chips, let alone a blockbuster movie. - "F*ck no! Do you have any idea how many young males will watch this movie? They need someone to masturbate to when there's no action on screen." I think you've just given me the best reason why I shouldn't go to the cinema to see it.
July 2, 201115 yr I think you've just given me the best reason why I shouldn't go to the cinema to see it. Yes, long gone are the days when it was chewinggum that made the floor at the cinemas sticky...
July 2, 201115 yr I said it was an interesting idea, but the interesting concept was wasted. Moi said: "The concept is crap, the telling of it was crap. What more can I say???" ;) I also later admitted to having been in a very bad mood last night! So, in a slightly more mellow mood now after a day in the sea and on the beach: the concept could have been a quite decent short story written by a master craftsman like Asimov or Aldiss. But as it was treated, it was like someone trying to plough a field with knitting needles. As for needing something to masturbate to, have you youngsters got no imaginations??????? July 2, 201115 yr So, in a slightly more mellow mood now after a day in the sea and on the beach: the concept could have been a quite decent short story written by a master craftsman like Asimov or Aldiss. Or a good movie made by someone like Tarkovsky or a screen play written by someone like Charlie Kaufman. Science of Sleep definitely has its flaws, and it's entirely from a different genre, but it was a more original in the way it used dreams as part of the story.
July 3, 201115 yr I saw Lars Von Trier's Melancholia today. I was a bit underwhelmed. I had huge expectations based on what some of my friends had told me about it. Edited July 3, 201115 yr by Maksimov
July 3, 201115 yr I saw Lars Von Trier's Melancholia today. I was a bit underwhelmed. I had huge expectations based on what some of my friends had told me about it. Is it as messed up and completely insane as Antichrist?
July 3, 201115 yr Is it as messed up and completely insane as Antichrist? I haven't seen Antichrist yet, but based on what I've heard about it, I'd say Melancholia is a much more mellow and conventional movie.
