March 20Mar 20 I always thought the Isley Brothers were responsible for the first iteration of Twist and Shout. Not so. Phil Spector produced The Top Notes in 1961. It failed. Co-writer Bert Burns - a now largely forgotten 60s legend - reworked it later for the Isleys. Though the Beatles' version reigns supreme, methinks.
