Used to always go to the cinema, as a kid, teenager, young adult.....

But in the last few years, it's just gotten too much now, what with booking fee's and so on...

Myself, son, mrs and mate went to see Toy Story 3, and it cost me £46, this is with booking fee's, and

3D glasses (which used to be free), madness.

Is it any wonder so many people download films from the Internet?

The only exception I'll make now, is if it's a Bond film or a Star Wars film, or if one of the kids

desperately wants to see something, other than that I wait til the Blu Ray release, and usaually go

for a nice shiny steel book.

I guess £46 isn't too bad for a night out these days, but it just doesn't sit right with me.

In Belfast we have a thing called "Crazy Tuesdays", where a few cinemas do any movie any time on a Tuesday for £3.

That's when I would go. :)

And its only once every few months when something decent comes by.

it's ridiculous here in sunny Florida too, movie tickets are $10 each, soda and popcorn about another $15 for 2 and it's sh*te popcorn anyway. we wait for the movies to come onto On Demand on the TV and pay $5 to sit at home and make microwave popcorn. There is no movie worth spending almost $40 on as entertainment that isn't going to be on TV a few weeks later unless it's a 3D movie that has amazing reviews.

Ill never stop going to the cinema.(no matter wot price)....The whole ambiance of the big screen, surround sound,etc cannot be experienced anywhere else.....If i go to a cinema once a month with anyone n it costs 10 quid a ticket, for us, its still a great experience and VFM....

I agree. Even with the advances in home theater equipment, there's still nothing quite like going to the cinema to watch a movie. I just love the whole experience and it's the way movies are meant to be seen. That's why I love this spoof commercial:

I do love seeing films on the big screen, but I absolutely hate the apparently inevitable accompaniment - people noisily crunching their way through obscenely huge buckets of popcorn with a nauseating smell which permeates the whole cinema!

The Rum Diary is coming out on the 4th November - I'm really looking forward to seeing that.

My pet peeve is people leaving their mobile on and answering it if it rings. And in the worst case scenario, they will chat with their mate for a while instead of ending the call and getting back to it after the movie has ended. Even with all the distractions, I still love going to the cinema. The distractions are at their worst at weekend screenings for big blockbusters, so if it's a big blockbuster movie, I will go see it at a midweek screening, a screening earlier in the day, or whenever there are fewer people(and less distractions) in the audience. If it's not a mainstream movie or if it's an art house movie, I'll pick any old screening as those kind of movies usually attract a sort of crowd that wants to enjoy the movie and let others enjoy it as well.

In my oppinion the laws need to be changed so that killing someone like that is okay.

£46 is insane. I'm glad that I'm a student and I abuse my student card ability to the extreme, and get about 40% off ticket prices, which is always handy. Orange Wednesdays is a good plan aswell to avoid extortionate prices. And, DON'T. GO. FOR. 3. D. Apart from Avatar, 3D has been completely pointless in every film I've seen. They just do it to add more layers to the scenery, making it look a bit nicer. That's all it is. I very rarely go for 3D anymore, there's no point, and even if I do, I take my own 3D glasses, to save myself £3.
