12/13 Squad Numbers

I couldn't determine if this would be better in the rumors section or the general section so moderators I'm sorry if this doesn't fit best in general.

Now that Hazard has signed officially I feel I wouldn't be jinxing anything by asking what you guys think his squad number will be?

Not a major topic or one of any importance really, but for me I like associating numbers to players and am curious because I feel Hazard will be a future star and face of Chelsea.

I see him with the number 20 personally, no valid reason for that thought, just a guess.

Knock on wood for my next question because of nothing official but what about Hulk?

To be honest I didn't even consider it because I've gotten so used to Drogba with it and even after his announcement I figured it would take somebody who could legitimately fill his shoes.

Hazard could very easily be that man, funny how I didn't put 2 and 2 together until now.

I would assume Hulk would get 11 if he signs. He's more of a goal scorer. I can see Hazard wearing 13 or 14. Maybe Mata gives up 10 and takes 13.

Actually Hulk can get 20 that he uses for Brazil, but I'd still want him to get 12 as I always associate 12 with the Fans, but don't want a Mikel shirt, lol.

edit: forgot Romeu was 6...too many changes. I guss he's getting 20 : ( Shame.

Actually hazard prefers to play in behibd the striker, I believe him and Mata will keep on switching lw and cam during the games.

That's Josh's number and even if he were to go out on loan - his squad number would still remain his.

The talk of Mata giving up his number 10 shirt is astonishing - I've seen it on here and CFCnet too and didn't particularly want to mention it as I believe its pointless but there you go. Mata's number is 10, fact, accept it, take it in, move on. Why is it even a discussion?!?!???? We haven't gone round mentioning the number 8 or 1 shirt have we?! Just because he likes the 'number 10 role' and wears it for Belgium and Lille does not mean he has to wear it here. Ronaldo wore 7 for Utd, wears it for Portugal, plays in the number 7 role and his brand name is CR7. For Madrid? He wears 9. I genuinely cannot believe talk of Mata giving up his shirt, Hazard automatically get it or that Mata should give it up or whatever is being discussed.

Good points, it's just a number and don't agree with any player giving up their existing numbers or that any player has a right to a particular number

One thing though, CRonaldo actually wears 7 for Real Madrid (He swapped after the first season when Raul left)

I don't like the idea of existing senior squad members being stripped of their numbers. If they volunteer to change, great. But I don't think it should be forced upon them; especially by a new signing who's yet to play for Chelsea.

I'm assuming Marin will/did take his usual #13. If Romeu wanted to give up 6, and Mikel wanted to take it, then great....give Hulk #12 (assuming he does, in fact, sign for us). But again, I don't think either Romeu or Mikel should be forced to change. If not, Hulk could take 11, 14, 17, or 21. Same for Hazard.

I can see Hazard getting #11. Mata shouldn't be forced to swap numbers with ANYONE. Even if it were Messi. That goes for Mikel and,everyone else aswell unless they request the change themselves, kind of like when Paulo gave #20 to Deco when we signed him.

If Hulk signs I think he'd get to pick from 14, 17, 21 onwards...I think Marin took/will take 13.
