what a farce...more like our chums of the month...winner for december? Paul scholes...a good volley from the edge of the box granted, but was it better than Matt Taylor's from 40 yards? was it better than essien's 35 yard shot with the outside of his foot curling from outside the post and into the top corner in the dying seconds to keep chelsea's unbeaten record? In a word no...then they start creaming themselves over henry's 156.gif good goal today...i'm not saying these goals weren't good, but they talked about henry's like it was one of the best ever...it was a counter attack against sloppy defending with a good shot at the end...but cos it was henry, it was from another planet icon_rolleyes.gif

Agree.

You could add Drog's stunning winner v Everton to those that were better than Scholes's.

Was Henry's any better than Carvalho's length of the field team move rounded off with a blistering drive v Manure last season?

So Scholes' goal won it?? Jeez! They've won every player of the month bar one this season as well! It's not fun sometimes to love the Blues - everyone hates us...... icon_sad.gif

But do we care? No! icon_lol.gif

I can't believe Scholes' volley won, Matty Taylor's goal was far and away the best goal in December (as Alan Shearer agreed) and because of this miscarriage of justice his goal won't be entered for Goal of the Season which it clearly is, thus Scholes' volley will win that accolade as well. Wasn't it Rooney's similar volley that won it last season?

Just looking at them again, Scholes was unchallenged with loads of space and time, yes it was good technique but for me I'd expect a top professional to score from there. It's a farce I tells ya.

Also does anyone else find it annoying the way the pundits on the BBC keep going on about Scholes having the best season of his career and deserves to be rewarded with Player of the Year!! It's like they're campaigning in an election, if they say it enough times people will believe them.

Shut the f*ck up!!

I'm not sure really. Matty Taylor's, Drogba's, Scholes' and Essien's were all equally good. Taylor's goal, although it was quality, had no technique. It sat up nicely for him and he spanked it.

For me it would have to be between Essien and Scholes and i cant choose, without bias, so i'll leave to the MOTD pundits.

However i do understand that United, Arsenal etc will always get picked over a team like Pompey. It's always been like that.

Essiens goal was probably the hardest to score of all the 4 contenders (Drogs,Essien,Taylor,Scholes), he was the only one being closed down, and to beat the keeper he had to aim off target and caress the ball around the keepers outstretched hand........

what's the betting that henry's goal gets the nod over martins stunner v spus today...same team move from the back, but martins shot was an absolute screamer at 84mph and paul robinson got nowhere near it...he only had a small target to aim at compared to henry who also benefitted from friedel deflecting it in off the woodwork

completely agree, I would put it between the two of them. Scholes had an acre of space, granted, but he also took control from a great height! Essien's was a tremendous effort too with great spin control to bend it into the gooal like that....I also think Essien's at the time and against who it was against, may have pipped it for me!
