I read about this earlier tonight and thought it a real shame. I never thought he was quite as good as some people claimed but then I suppose it is hard to tell how good he might have been if not for his injuries and somewhat fragile mental state.

Maybe this isn't the end of the story. Maybe a year out will do him good and he may do a u-turn and come back into the game. That would be good to see.

As he is done at 27 (very sad i agree) and realisticly he should go till about 33 i wonder if the universe will accept my application to fill in for the last 5 or so years of his career

Its a shame. Deisler was a very talented footballer. Sad that his body has never been able to stand in the football buisness. icon_rolleyes.gif He should have gone to the secound devision and try to play some football at least
