Backbiter Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 This is a really weird one that I can't get my head around. I saw a headline the other day saying Maka should be banned from playing for Chelsea if he doesn't turn out for France. I thought this issue had been resolved with Maka agreeing to play on to help france qualify, but the question is: why the hell hasn't Scholes been banned yet for making himself unavailable for his country?
loz Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 If I recall the situation was that Maka hadn't officially retired. If he was to officially retuire then France could not force him to play. The ball is really in Maka's court - until such time as he categorically states that he is no longer available for selection France have every right to select him.
The Moos Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 If I'm not mistaking Maka said something about him wanting to retire from the national team but he's available if they need him. I guess that's the reason why he can be picked. He have to stop being so nice and put his foot down. Just say no, Maka!
Elliott Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I think Maka's last word on this, was that he has agreed to help France for the remaining Qualifying games, but after then, he's finished. Lets hope so. At his age, he should be playing as fewer games as possible.
