Have you noticed that when we are about to sign a player, another player in his position has a story written about him as a potential Chelsea transfer target?

This is deliberate.

It's because the club is looking at other options (or at least seen to be) so as to not to appear to be in a weak negotiation position where they have only one option.

I suspect the club even leaks the details to the media on purpose at times.

I think we've enquired about him but lets be fair, its no secret that we are going to be in for Shaw in the summer. 

 

I personally don't really want us spending £30mil on a LB when when you take into account his age (and the fact that we would easily get 10yrs+ service from him) and the fact that he's English then that all adds up.

 

I reassure myself with the fact that Man Utd paid £25mil for Rooney so taking all factors into account then it makes sense.

 

Pretty sure Southampton wil want to start a bidding war between Us and the Manc clubs.

Rooney is a striker though, a "worldclass" striker compared to a "worldclass" left/right back usually cost almost twice as much in the transfer market. I doubt Shaws pricetag will ever be as much as it is now.

 

I hope we go for Rodriguez for half the price of Shaw, or close to £15mil.
