  1. Because it's too late for this summer, we've been in limbo too long and we would end up counter-productively rushing everything if we suddenly received a freeze. It would be like serving half a window's ban without it actually counting towards the punishment. Just because we appeal to CAS doesn't necessarily mean we think we've been completely wrongly convicted, rather perhaps just too harshly punished.
  2. I think the club have accepted that there's no point trying to have this summer window frozen and it is already ruined given we should already have been preparing the groundwork for transfers months ago. Legally also it stands us in better stead to have already been punished for this summer as that's a longer and harsher punishment than the winter window, and therefore the likelihood of the ban being reduced to just this summer window is greater than if we froze it and tried to have it reduced to solely January.
  3. Why the hell would it take CAS 2 months just to decide whether we should be deemed innocent until proven guilty?
  4. I doubt US-Russian trade is completely at a zero despite political relations.
  5. Wouldn't bode well for our transfer window closing first.
  6. You'd think there's some real backdoor shenanigans going on for it to take this long. On the other hand if Bruce Buck phoned the FIFA committee tomorrow and they were like "oh right that thing, we forgot all about it... yeah nah I guess we'll decline it f you" then threw the phone back to the side of the pool I wouldn't be surprised either.
  7. Think you guys are slightly misunderstanding, once FIFA have dealt with this appeal that's the end of their involvement completely, we then appeal to CAS who take over the matter and can independently force FIFA to suspend/reduce/cancel our ban. The decision for FIFA not to postpone the ban pending the outcome of our appeal to them has already been made, and their appeal process is about to be finished anyway.
  8. They've already rejected the opportunity to do that haven't they?
  9. Strange there's been no decision yet. I'd say that was a good thing if I thought there was a chance in hell FIFA would accept the appeal.
  10. Ref turns to the crowd to see his mom look shiftily away, her freshly showered hair spraying flecks of water onto the seats in front.
  11. After Zaha there was always that worrying suspicion that CHO may switch to Ghana, thank goodness we have such a talent playing for England for the next 15 years
  12. Considering we previously had a 2 window FIFA ban completely thrown away by CAS, FIFA are unlikely to want to run the risk of being sued for the sake of it.
  13. No worries, that's what all Chelsea fans are complaining about though... FIFA accepted the requests from Atletico, Real and Barcelona to postpone the bans while their appeals were processed, whereas they rejected Chelsea's.
  14. I think you're confusing the requests to simply to have the bans postponed while their appeals were processed by FIFA with the appeals themselves to have the bans removed. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid were all able to sign players the summer window directly after FIFA had issued them their bans, as despite being supposed to be banned for that window the punishments were postponed for the duration of their appeals.
  15. Looks like we'll have backup from Manchester City's legal team at least.
  16. TBF it was an absolute joke that the Spanish clubs were able to postpone their bans in the first place, effectively getting around all the negative effects of what was supposed to be an unexpected ban. But I agree said joke has to be extended equally to us too.
  17. Sarri did put his foot down... what was he supposed to do, call on security to grab Kepa by the scruff?
  18. Twice Kepa went down with the same injury, with penalties looming and a top drawer penalty stopper waiting on the bench. It was an obvious and logical substitution to make.
  19. Can't see how he stays with the transfer ban. We'll lose him for free AND won't be able to replace him if we keep him beyond this summer.
  20. In theory, but is he really so good on present ability alone that he takes Willian/Pedro's place before the end of the season?
  21. Values drop absurdly when players enter the last year of their contract. Sancho went for £8m and it's hard to argue Hudson-Odoi is definitely better than him. Courtois' value dropped from about £80m (there was even talk it was as high as £100m at one point) to £30m. Hudson-Odoi is already playing cup games and he isn't satisfied, and it's hard to see how he's more likely to get starting roles as the cup games get more important. Also wouldn't Loftus-Cheek have been a capable stand in if the others got injured - he played a floating wing role for Crystal Palace last season and for England
  22. Still hard to see how he's going to get game time. Hazard and Higuain (barring a Torres-like disaster situation) are going to start every game, which leaves just one remaining place for Willian/Pedro/Hudson-Odoi to scrap over. Hudson-Odoi is obviously the most talented out of the three but also the worst on current ability and we have no margin for experimentation when it comes to getting back into the Champions League for next season. Therefore - and I'll merrily eat my words if I'm wrong and he ends up signing a new contract - in practical terms we've just signed away £
