May 27, 20242 yr Apparently we're making a late bid to bring this guy in from Fulham on a free. English, 6'5' centre back. Newcastle and Man U also sniffing around. https://theprideoflondon.com/posts/tosin-adarabioyo-to-chelsea-what-this-means-for-the-blues-01hytwn4f3wv

May 27, 20242 yr Pointless shelling out wages on someone who would only make an appearance in the very worst of injury crises.

We will need to buy at least 1 CB. He is a CB with PL experience. Good age, won't command ridiculous wages, is a freebie, good on the ball and has quite a bit of pace for a lanky CB. Seems he suits Maresca's style of play so makes sense. The one thing which is a risk is purchasing another CB in the Fofana fee range for it not to work out.

Even with Silva leaving, we still have 5 CBs in Disasi/Badiashile/Chalobah/Fofana/Colwill. We don't need anybody else.

Fofana is injured and likely will take a few months to get up to speed whilst Chalobah may well be off. The new coach also switched to a back 3 at different points last season for Leicester.

Enzo very rarely played a back 3 this season and even when he did, the results were poor. James can also play CB in a back 3.
May 27, 20242 yr I'd keep Colwill, Chalobah, Fofana, and Badiashile. Find a way to get rid of Disasi and bring in a CB that can somewhat fill a void in Silva's absence. Todibo for me just seems like the perfect candidate.

Chalobah has played in CB in back 4, however not frequently. I would say if Chalobah is sold for a fee and Tosin bought on a free, that is decent business. Chalobah is a decent option at CB but is much better in the back 3.
May 27, 20242 yr Offered a contract. Ex city youth player too so one Maresca will know. Decent player for free, not sure if he moves the needle, but seems Chalobah will be sold for pure profit.

Todibo would be great, looks united bound though.

More likely that Joe Shields is pushing for it. Tosin probably a target with or without Maresca, since that is the model now, but nice that Maresca will know him too.

We have bought a shed load of centre backs that have great physical attributes and can pass a ball but they're all constantly losing their man, not tracking runners, and not being in the right position especially from set pieces. Tosin looks like another one. Also hate this new plan of selling Chelsea youngsters to buy City youngsters even though we have the better youth setup.

May 28, 20242 yr He looks pretty useful in the air, based on his FBRef scouting report ... so that would be a big plus ...
May 28, 20242 yr Assuming he is a free agent there should be no transfer fee involved at least. So really it is about personal terms and convincing him to join us over other interested clubs. If he is settled in SW London life, we have the advantage that he wouldn't have to move.

The nearest will be Kepa, but Kepa can't bait and play under a press. Maresca may well think that if an alternative isn't readily available, that this is an area that he can work with Kepa on through coaching. Working on the basis that he has a relative amount of success with this, it still will not alleviate Kepa's flappiness on corners and high balls. A 6 foot 5 inch CB protecting him, along with Badiashile, may allow him some protection.
May 30, 20242 yr Tosin Adarabioyo - Spurs are after him, but he is not the preferred option. Milan and Monaco are keen. Why are Milan keen? They fear the departure of Fikayo Tomori. West Ham will also consider making the player an offer. Newcastle are keen. Wildcard may be Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United. Fulham will look to a new contract. Fik - Milan has no interest in selling. But a return to Chelsea was suggested during discussions between the clubs over two other players. Manchester United have had a very high-end third-party scout watching him on their behalf. Bayern Munich has a declared interest. Arsenal and Napoli also interested apparently. I have always liked Tomori. Out of all the young academy players we have sold, i always thought this lad was one we should have kept.

If we are selling off our own youth players because of ‘pure profit’ wouldn’t Tosin be in the same boat being a free transfer?
