Tosin Adarabioyo joins Chelsea

Featured Replies

Looks like the move is happening according to Romano. Astute business. Sad to lose an academy product but if Chalobah goes, we have a ready made replacement with PL experience and suits Maresca’s style of play and helps us with FFP.

I'd be happy with that signing, gives us more depth at CB, premier league proven and, as much hate as I'll get for this, he's an upgrade on Chalobah (and Disasi and Badiashile). In a free transfer it's a no brainer for me.

Personally think Guehi is the best of the bunch.  Not a fan of Tomori, weak aerially and relies too much on his pace to get him out of trouble.
If we are selling off our own youth players because of ‘pure profit’ wouldn’t Tosin be in the same boat being a free transfer?

Agree. Selling Guehi was a mistake. Tomori? Till the last season or so Chris Smalling was considered one of the best CBs in Serie A. It's not a high bar.

Think this is a smart signing on a free. He’s a decent enough player. I’m not in the “omg we can’t sell our academy players ever” camp, so if Tosin comes in on a free, and Chalobah is sold for pure profit to help balance the books, that sounds good to me.

We’re really stockpiling centre backs. So is he an upgrade on Chalobah who I thought was excellent on his return? Never seen this guy play and we already have Badashile who could be pretty decent if he cut out the occasional error which slipped into his game.

Personally, from what I've seen of Tosin he just meshes with the other CBs we have in Fofana and Colwill. Promising but has an occasional error.

Not really the experienced leader we need to fill Silva's void.

Think the important parts are he is free, a former City academy player (Joe Shields loves those) and most importantly let's us sell Trev for pure profit and we can sell Tosin for pure profit in the future now too.

I would imagine we will try and look for such deals as often as possible to avoid blowing huge wastes of money on the Disasis from bow on.

Not sure we'll be able to find a player like that who's not either a) too expensive or b) not good enough in the present day.

Thiago was anomaly, we'd more likely end up in a Casemiro situation if we tried too hard to replace him.

3 cbs?  why not play Enzo as a sweeper? Where are we going to play Enzo? (Little Enzo, not BIG Enzo the manager)
Caicedo and Lavia i think will be a good pairing in the middle.

Lavia, Tosin, etc. all the players that didnt make it at Man Citeh. We are Pep-lite

Tosin seems like he will be okay. He is tall and fast. I mean Thiago is irreplaceable. You cannot buy that experience and leadership. Will Wes Fofana ever be fit? Anyone know of his fitness update?

Pure profit is the game.  Don’t think Tosin is seen as a long term squad player, most likely the new Chalobah moved on for around £20-30 million in a season or 2 for pure profit. Rinse and repeat.

That was also the plan with Malang Sarr.....

Oh nice...

Any Chelsea supporter's first question (after "Who?"): what's his injury record?

Assuming the left back is the one to invert:

James/Fofana/Disasi

Fofana/Tosin

Colwill/Badiashile

Would be my guess on how our other defenders are organized.

Unless we can sell Disasi and/or Badiashile

Good signing.

I think we’ll be going mostly 4-3-3 next season after reading about Maresca’s career/formations etc.

I reckon Trafford will end up at Chelsea and will be our number although I’d much prefer a much more experienced keeper was brought in.

We will probably have a new left back and a striker too so my team would be something like this.

Gk  TRAFFORD

RB  James

CB. Tosin

CB. Colwill

LB. New signing or maybe Maatsen

DM. Caicedo

DM. Lavia

CM Enzo

LF Nkunku/

CF new signing

RF Palmer

We could end up moving on around 10 players

Keep Carney, Bada, Pertovic, Noni, Lesley, Jackson, Cucu, Gusto, Casedei

 Loan Washington, Mudryk, Santos,

Sell Sanchez, Disasi, Chalaboah, Chillwell, Gallagher, Sterling Gilchrist, Broja, Hall

Big season for Enzo. I think he’ll be asked to play in an 8 and get forward to add to the front 3. I think we might get a good return of goals from him.

He has all those qualities to a Fulham level of ability, not to those required at an elite club.

Even with Silva leaving, we still have 5 CBs in Disasi/Badiashile/Chalobah/Fofana/Colwill. We don't need anybody else.

Have you even watched him? Guy has a very good pedigree and left City to play. Much the same as Palmer did. He’s had a good season and is definitely worth signing. He goes into the team alongside Colwill out of the CB’s we have assuming Fofana isn’t fit for the start of the season.

Fat chance! I wish the club would stop flogging this dead horse; Poch came in last season and Enzo put some pressure on him to be played further forward and he was bang average till he was moved further back. Maresca too has sold the owners on how he intends to get him scoring and contributing more. Issue is this guy has scored 9 goals & 14 assists in 110 career goals. He has picked more yellows than goals + assists.

We overpaid by £60m-£70m and that’s OK, we just need to focus on his strengths in a deeper role.

Hopefully we'll get rid of Badiashielle. He's awful.

Assuming we stick with a back 4, and sell Chalobah, that would be:

Colwill, Tosin
Fofana, Disasi

Which should be ok. Unless Fofana gets injured all season again.
