Non League Day

Featured Replies

This coming Saturday marks non league day, a day where non league football is promoted as there are no Premiership or Championship football.

Two of your local non league sides, Hayes & Yeading and Wealdstone play each other in a local derby at Maidenhead United FC, Hayes & Yeading's temporary home. We are aiming to break the 500 mark for our attendance for the first time since April 2012!

Prices are as follows:

Adults - £12
Concessions - £8
Season Ticket holders of any club bar Wealdstone - £8
Children accompanies by a paying adult - FREE

If you have any questions, feel free to tweet either myself (@sXePotter) or the club (@handyutd) or come onto our forum (http://www.hayesandyeadingunited.co.uk/phpBB3/) and ask away.

I do hope you attend, we are a very friendly little club.

It should be a great weekend for all non-league clubs attendances.  Wealdstone will probably bring 200-250 so I'd have thought the 500 will be beaten.

At Dulwich Hamlet the hope is to break the current club's attendance in the current ground, over 1800 hopefully with a pay what you can afford policy for the day. After the match day costs have been met the rest is going to two Southwark Council charities.  It's a shame the match isn't against Maidstone or Bognor!

League moneybag leaders Margate tonight, should be a good crowd.

Sutton United v Concord Rangers

Show your Chelsea season ticket at the gate and an Adult admission will be just £5, Concessions/Juniors £1 (season ticket valid for one person only)

No need to book, just turn up on the day.

I love football and have been to a great many non-league games over the years but £12 entry is too much for the standard of football being played - it would be okay if all kids with a paying adult got in free. Non-league (and lower league) football needs to do more to get fans into the grounds. The standard is only just better than good saturday park football and I don't pay a penny to watch that.

Im just wondering why it would be cheaper for Chelsea season ticket holders?

Believe it is all teams season ticket holders not just Chelsea's.

At Dulwich it's a tenner to get in and kids are free.  This Saturday it's pay what you can afford.

Bungay Town to hand out mushrooms to fans who attend their home game on non-league day. Different.

Suffolk non-league side Bungay Town are offering free punnets of mushrooms to supporters who attend their home match against Martham on Saturday.

The offer is part of Non-League Day, when clubs try to boost fan numbers.

"We have a supplier of mushrooms so we thought 'Why not? The former chairman is a mushroom grower'," vice-chairman Shaun Cole told BBC Sport.

Last season, the Anglian Combination Division Two side gave fans 5p to attend their game on Non-League Day.

"Last year we had a 60-70% attendance increase on the day and I would be delighted if we can get that again," Cole added.

Non-League Day day was set up in 2010 by James Doe as a way of highlighting the importance of affordable volunteer-led community football.

The event has become an annual part of the football calendar during an international break and is backed by both Premier League and Football League clubs.

Premier League players both past and present, such as former Southampton midfielder Matt Le Tissier and current Hull defender Curtis Davies, have given their support to the day.
