December 19, 201510 yr What a truly disgusting post. You really couldn't have painted yourself as more of an entitled brat if you tried. The fact is Jose Mourinho would in all likelihood (near 100% certain) never have managed Chelsea if it were not for Roman Abramovich. You triumphantly state that Chelsea are a top 5 in the world club while at the same time not only dismissing but completely disrespecting the man that is SOLELY responsible for it being so. Not only is he solely responsible for it, he is unique in that he is arguably the only private owner (currently, I would include Jack Walker but I have a strong suspicion you are too young to remember him) in world football that has ploughed fortunes into a club without seeking anything in return be that publicity or returns on said investment. To add to that, the man genuinely loves the club, as does his eldest son who will likely take over the reigns one day. Nothing more than a deep pocket you say? A CLUELESS, SPOILT ENTITLED BRAT I SAY !!! I would be a "spoilt entitled brat" if I demanded the same unrealistic expectations Roman Abramovich puts on his managers, that's obviously not the case as I can accept years of transition and rebuilding if it's the right direction to take the club forward. I will not blindly follow the owner of the club I supported my entire life (before and after him) when he makes horrendous mistakes and harming it in the process. Whatever he loves the club or not doesn't really matter, this is a businessman who invested huge money in his club, of course he cares about its success, not sure what's the point of any of the pictures. Nobody is discrediting the huge contribution and dedication of his investment for the growth of the club, that doesn't mean that if he leaves now the club dies. The Chelsea brand, thanks to Roman, the managers and the players who built it is strong enough to attract investors or companies to continue the process and improve it. IMO, as long as he continues with his impulsive approach (And after more than a decade in the game, he's not changing) we will never maximize the quality we have and become a super power in the game. Only need to look at a super power like Real Madrid who's owner takes the same approach and their obvious struggles despite all the resources in the world available to them. Chelsea was here before Roman, we had the best period in our history under him, Chelsea will be here after him and maybe better than ever.

December 19, 201510 yr It is a business, and no amount of promotion and marketing is going to lead to significant growth of the brand if the on pitch product isn't successful. They made the worst business mistake they could have done, not only because Mourinho is one of the most marketable personalities in the game but because nobody provided the actual success more than him. We're in 16th place because we have a far bigger problem, an attitude problem in the core of the group that the manager identified and wanted to sort out, only to get a bunch of posers in the board pretending to know what's right or wrong for the club more than the man who just delivered big, again. What do you mean by sentiment and business? You're saying that leads to Arsenal but just described the complete opposite. As I mentioned, we had the perfect combination together, the most popular and the most successful in one person. Sentiment and Mourinho are two things that don't match. This is a man who puts himself under immense pressure to deliver big and now. I read things like "Roman brought Jose back for the fans", no, Roman brought Jose back because he's the best in his profession and matches his ambitions, he didn't do a favor to anyone. It just happens to be that this guy has a special connection with the fanbase. What starts to affect the club's success is unqualified workers in important roles and panic decisions full of personal agendas. We had an excuse in 2007, we tried to mask apparent lack of knowledge with inexperience, now? There's nothing. The owner of the club made a move to affect the club's success and failed...Again. Mourinho is portrayed as a bitter old man in the media, how that's as marketable as you say is debatable. Arsenal are a team who will not sack Wenger because of what he means to the club when in all honesty if they're after a premier league win or even the champions league he should be gone now. His naivety has cost them numerous times. That's what I mean by sentiment and business. He has kept them in the top 4 consistently which is probably why he's still there but compare the owners of Arsenal who are happy with the top 4 and a decent cup run as it puts a bit of money in their pockets with how Roman behaves he's a man who wants his team to win and consistently win that's why he has such an itchy trigger finger.
December 19, 201510 yr I'm sorry, but that third gif just cracks me up. Just what was he reacting to? (I remember reading somewhere that's his standard reaction to feeding an incompetent to his pet shark.)
December 19, 201510 yr startedwithglenn, what a fantastic post. I genuinely believe that Roman wanted Jose to be with us for the next decade and I'm sure that he took no pleasure in sacking him.
December 19, 201510 yr There would be no Jose without Roman, nor would there be the same level of the success we've seen in recent years. Need I go on?

Mourinho is known worldwide as the most famous and charismatic manager in football, arguably in sports. He has countless of lucrative sponsorship deals on a yearly basis. That's marketability. The point about sentiment and the Wenger/Arsenal situation is true, but our Jose/Chelsea situation is not comparable in any way. We're winning the PL every other season, we're constantly in the final stages of the CL, we're winning multiple league cups, it's the complete opposite. Ambition to win every competition is fantastic, ambition to be competitive every year is great, but when it crosses the line to unreasonable expectations it turns to harming instability of the system.
