Leicester fan in peace

Featured Replies

Morning Guys,

Leicester fan in peace, I'm hoping you guys could give me some advice.

A few of my friends managed to get tickets to the match but a few of us were not able to. Are there any pubs local to Stamford Bridge we could go in to watch the match or highlights? Just looking to enjoy the day and celebrate a cracking season we've had.

Also don't suppose dare I say.. what is the likelihood of going in the home end and is that a good idea if I promise to keep my trap shut?

I doubt most people will be that bothered. I would of thought everyone would be happy to see Claudio and Robert Huth lift the title so you'll be fine unless you intentionally try to annoy people.

Promise that won't be the case, the most you'd hear is "if" we score there could be a cheer and perhaps tears of joy/pain at the end of the match depending on outcome of season.

What are you guys predicting for the match?

I would say that you wouldn't get much trouble in the home stand if you don't stand out, but I've seen fans from other teams get a lot of agro and being removed by stewards. On the other hand, I'm not sure what happens when these fans are removed, are they taken to the away stand or kicked out of the Bridge? But being the last game and with the possibility of Leicester winning the title in front of the Spuds, I'd say you would be ok. In any case, I can only speak for me, and I don't mind other team fans  as long as they don't provoke.

Please, don't bring those horrendous cardboard clappers, I hate them even when I watch Leicester on tv!

If you don't get tickets, you could watch the match at The Bolton, near Earl's Court and on the way to Stamford Bridge. I've seen there fans from other teams before and after the games. Again, use your head and don't provoke, enjoy your historic title but respect us, Chelsea fans, who have had a really disappointing and annoying season.

Funnily enough the bar actually in the ground itself - Frankies - seems to allow away fans in - certainly when I was in there against Liverpool, there were Scousers openly in there.  And they have screens.  You'd be nice and close to join your mates after the game to go on to celebrate too (hopefully).  You can even book a table online as long as you eat.  But it's bloody pricey!  http://frankiessportsdiner.com/matchdays

Wow, I never thought Frankie's would allow away fans! But it makes sense and it would be good for them in this case. Whatever you do, don't go to the Delta 360 Lounge in front of Frankie's! I was sent there with my mate when we tried Frankie's but it was full. They robbed us £15 for two bottles of London Pride!

I'm not sure Frankie ' s is much cheaper. And on match day they only have a set menu which is about twenty five quid for two courses I think (but they allowed four of us to share two set menus so it was a bit cheaper). And as I said to book you need to eat. But hey it's possibly party time for him!

If it's John Terry's last home match then I'd hope there'd be as many Chelsea supporters in the ground as possible. Hopefully if people do flog their tickets to Leicester fans then they're chucked out.

It's nothing personal but this is our captain, the best player this club has ever had and people are seriously thinking about not going? I know that's not the point of the post and there are plenty of pubs around the ground you'd probably be fine in, but come on.

If JT gets the contract he deserves then I'm not that bothered. This though, maybe it's me being emotional after Prince kicked it, but it would bother me a little bit I must say.

I completely forgot it's his last game, massive loss to the game let alone you guys. Understood and thanks for the comments guys, I've made an enquiry at Frankies.

Hope we have a conclusion to this season before the Bridge but... Well this isn't ever going to happen again so I'd like to experience it.

Is it wise wearing colours?

Outside the Bridge I've never seen any problem for people wearing their colours, and I've seen ManCity (last Saturday) and other team fans with their scarfs at The Bolton and there's not been a single problem that I can recall. At the home end you may get some abuse and kicked out if "discovered" with your scarf or shirt, but I doubt this match will be that tense (and to tell you the truth I doubt you'd be treated as bad as if you were a Liverpool fan), specially if you have already snatched the title from the Spuds. And you could see many Chelsea supporters cheering Leicester if you need a win (I would and many here have said so too).

I just hope you win the title beforehand and that the match is a celebration of our captain JT.

Me too, this race for the title is killing me.. I just want to know an outcome asap, really don't want to lose it on the final day as that would really hurt.

Just shows how much football has changed over the years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last team to clinch a title at the Bridge was Liverpool in 1986, I wonder what the response would have been if the Scouse twats had asked if we minded if they came into our ends then?

Sincerely hope Leicester have the title clinched in advance so we can enjoy JTs last game properly.

No, I wouldn't expect the same friendly atmosphere at the Bridge if it was Liverpool instead of Leicester.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't have the same issues with Leicester City fans as with the Scousers. I don't like the Liverpool team and their support is the most obnoxious of fans, so I wouldn't respond to one of them as I am talking to this particular Leicester supporter. It is also the case that this season I had some Liverpool supporters near where I was seated and they got all kind of abuse and were kicked out, and I was glad about it (especially after all the crap we were getting with the refereeing and their dirty playing, when they should have been down to ten men within the first half).

Genuine question mate, how would Chelsea fans get on if they were in your end in the same circumstances?

Back in your Filbert Street days it was always lively between both sets of fans, obviously now days its a lot different but we're not exactly on friendly terms with some of your support.

As for you coming down & maybe sitting in our end, it depends on a few things to how that would pan out, if you was in the east/west upper & celebrated a goal you would more than likely be fine regards our fans, i cant comment to how the stewards would react because some of them are total w**kers.

If you was in the shed or MH stand than it would probably come on top for you, a few months ago a Man Utd got slapped in the MHL for celebrating their goal & had to be taken out for his own safety.

Regards pubs, i think the Kings Head at West Kensington is ok for away fans, some pubs at Earls Court are also ok, pubs nearer the ground you wont get in & i'd strongly advise you if you do manage to get in one dont wear colours(Frankies is different as its part of the ground)

Our support are not bullies, now days the only time it ever looks like it could be lively is when away fans get trappy outside but even then its dealt with by plod straight away.

I'm sure you'll be fine on the day, good luck for the title i really hope you win it & enjoy your day out.

I take your point, in hindsight it's perhaps a stupid question for me to ask. Genuinely roles reversed given the occasion as long as others have said.. Behave etc yeah I honestly dont think there would be a problem.

Thanks for the advice, tried booking with Frankies but it's fully booked up :/

Nah its not a stupid question at all mate, no harm in asking a question if your not sure about something, my question to you was because given your new ground now & support compared to the Filbert St days i myself was unsure how we'd get on in your end.

Have a look at the pubs i mentioned, you might be ok there, saying that if 100s/1,000s of you turn up without tickets then plod wont want you all on the streets so good chance they'll have a pub lined up for you anyway.
