My First game was 1974 away to spurs being an Edmonton boy and Being Chelsea it was an easy bus ride to WHL

for a 12 year old was in the paxton we lost 2-0 and were relegated remember the fighting in the paxton and a few Chelsea getting battered on the pitch i know loads were locked out had years off y*ds gloating but an old y*d fella told me about 1968 when Chelsea battered spurs in the park lane any old heads there?

Couple of years too early for me, although it's pretty well documented in 'Hoolifan'. My first game there was in 71, think we lost 2-1?, after the game we all grouped up outside their supporters club, near the main ground entrance. Then the League Cup Semi 2nd Leg in 72, last min goal from a corner saw us go through on 5-4 agg. That was the night the good old white Butchers Coats were worn in numbers. Outside the Paxton Rd end afterwards, it was like the old Wild West!.

Ive put notes on here about the 68 scene...I was a kid and saw thousands of chelsea walk down the spud high road singing WE HATE TOTTENHAM over and over.....Smashed the supporters club up....In the ground i remember watching the Boys in blue run into the park lane from the park lane / shelf area and were met by the spuds...It amazed me at the time as both sets of fans stopped fighting breifly to let innocents escape down the terrace between them...Then carried on fighting...Chelsea ran back up to the corner of the park lane and then ran back down and into spuds...Spuds were singing YOULL NEVER TAKE THE PARK LANE.....After the matchim not up on what happened.........I also remember the lockout and being outside...Everyone tried to break into a turnstile but to no avail....Chelsea walking round spit hart lane looking for a spud to have a beer with was also a good crack.......In the early 70s i was with a mob of Blue who decided to walk around from the paxton , under the old shelf to enter the park lane...Wasnt to be tho....Spuds came to meet us halfway and we felt it better at that point to go back to the paxton end.....Was with wolves in some euro type cup at the lane in a semi (maybe?)...Some blues there but not enough of anyone to do the do....Millwall at spudland was the tops for me...say no more

My first away game, quite a lot of trouble wherever you looked, couldn't believe how much of a sh*thole that part of London was!

It all seems so tame now when you think back to the 70s and 80s.The atmosphere and the tension on the terraces and in the towns was unreal. So many scrapes amnd near misses im surprised i got to 60 lol.For a football fan they were the good old days.

Many of a younger age today, chastise us 'old-uns' ( I prefer to use the term 'mature'!), for glorifying what used to go on back then. That was how things were in those eras, no different from Mods & Rockers, skinheads & greasers ( living near Southend, every Bank Hol Monday for about 5 years was mayhem along the seafront) etc etc..
If I had a choice of living my life again when I did, or being born 25 years later, no contest!. Plus the fact i'd have missed us beating 'Dirty leeds' in the Cup Final replay!.

On Chelsea TV last night they showed the Chelsea v Leeds league game from 12/08/1972 (first game of the season). Had never seen it before and it was weird viewing as the old stand had been demolished and there was no East Stand but I think the crowd was still over 40,000.

In the days of only one substitute Leeds suffered injuries including goalkeeper David Harvey so they went down to 10 men and Peter Lorimer had to go in goal. We ended up giving them a 4-0 thrashing with plenty of pitch invasions by long-haired youths!

Happy Days - although I must add I am not 60!

I remember loving the train stations.  You would play some nothing team at home and head to whatever station northerners were returning to and it could be carnage.  I remember an opening day 78 I think we had Everton at home, Leeds at Arsenal, Newcastle were at Millwall and still aroung Kings Cross when Spurs got back from Forest.  West Ham had small numbers and Euston/Kings X/St pancras was a war zone for a few hours.  Newcastle hijacked a train that day and shut the southern rails down for a few hours.

Remember that as because the Shed was so packed, i'm sure we watched the game on the Greyhound track pitch side, as the Old Bill let loads of us get over the wall.
That was in the days before Leeds fans started to travel to away games, and the amount they had in the old 'North End Road' terrace must have numbered 50 max.

So many memories!. When Utd used to come to town, Euston would be swimming with them. If memory serves me right, after last game of 72-73 season when Bobby Charlton played his last game for them at 'The Bridge', Newcastle were at Tottenham.
We went to Euston afterwards, and although the Geordies travelled back from Kings Cross, they suddenly appeared at Euston to have a 'pop' at United. Most of them had 'Alice Cooper' eye make up on (older fans will recall him), which is probably why I recall it.
Had never seen that before.

We were outside King's Cross on our way to Forest but found out the match was off around 78 or 79.  About ten of us were on our way to the Underground when dozens of Newcastle on their way to Palace charged across the road towards us.  Stand, Don't run the cry went up, f**k me we were in for a serious kicking but no-one ran.  Suddenly the Geordies turned around and legged it, out of nowhere a coach load of Chelsea had pulled up and we ended up running them through the stations, down the platforms, everywhere.  Felt pretty good after that, not a single punch thrown but reputations intact.

I remember when i was 12, and being a naughty truant, bunking the trains to the london grounds at that time, i had yet to see...The smell of the old programmes from the 60s and 70s still invades my mind when i think retrospectively..

Sometimes our special trains pulled up on adjacent tracks to an opposition club.

Lots of incidents going on as CFC presents were dispatched at the opposition and trains, especially remember a Forest train outside Kings Cross / St Pancras-
