Carlisle last three games have been as follows.

Lost, won (midweek) and then lost again yesterday !

That was some trip  yesterday, all the way down to Plymouth and then a 2-0 defeat.

Most away trips are long trips for Carlisle.

Well they will decide to be all t I he way up in the gods! Should relocate a la MK Dons :laugh2:

The mighty Carshalton Athletic have made it to the FA Cup first round proper after beating Dagenham & Redbridge.

Sutton United on the other hand conceded a late equaliser against Billericay with the goal being scored by the opposition goal keeper!

Carlisle have history, well one moment in particular, of a keeper scoring late on !

A midweek win for Scarborough over Plymouth left Carlisle bottom of Division Three with one game to go and their fate out of their own hands. Victory for Scarborough on the final day of the season at home to Peterborough would relegate the Cumbrians out of the Football League, with Carlisle needing to beat Plymouth to even stand a chance of survival.

INJURY TIME

The final whistle had already gone at Scarborough, with their 1-1 draw meaning a win would be enough to keep Carlisle up. But, with four minutes of injury time signalled and the Cumbrians drawing 1-1, time was running out.

Step forward Jimmy Glass. The Carlisle goalkeeper, up for a corner, scored with virtually the last kick of the game to win the game and send Scarborough down.

JG: "I was always a frustrated forward. I looked over to Nigel Pearson and he waved me on. That was it, it all came down to that last kick. If I could bottle that feeling I would be a very rich man now.

"It fell straight to me and the rest is history. You don't get that excitement from driving a cab. It is a amazing feeling, those moments in sport. The change from despair to pure elation for people, the fans, coaches, players, ball boys."

Leyton Orient got smashed 4-0 away to Plymouth on Tuesday. I predict they’ll (Orient that is) get a comfortable 2-0 win today :good2:

I'd have agreed with you before the match. However, the 1-1 draw yesterday was for Carlisle, a decent result.

Well done to Colchester Utd and Oxford Utd for both reaching the EFL Quarter Finals.::clap2::

Be great if either or both, reach the Semi Finals.

Obviously one of them will do so, if they draw each other in the Quarter Finals:biggrin:

@erskblue Carlisle have sacked their manager then!

Aye !

Steven Pressley: Carlisle United sack manager after 10 months in charge.

Carlisle United have sacked manager Steven Pressley after 10 months in charge of the League Two club.

The Cumbrians are 19th in the fourth tier, but have won two of their past three games in all competitions.

The 46-year-old leaves after Tuesday's 3-1 Leasing.com Trophy loss at Morecambe, having beaten non-league Dulwich Hamlet in the FA Cup on Friday and Macclesfield Town the week before.

The club's remaining coaches will take charge of the first team temporarily.

"Steven has given his all and has worked tirelessly since the day he joined us," chairman Andrew Jenkins said in a statement.

"We understand the challenges and have supported him throughout, but we haven't seen the evidence of progress we expected or needed to see.

"This is not something we can allow to continue, so sadly it is time to change, move on and look forward."

The former Coventry City, Fleetwood Town and Falkirk boss succeeded John Sheridan when he left to become Chesterfield manager with the side sixth in League Two, three points off the automatic promotion places.

Carlisle finished the season in 11th place, three points away from the play-off spots, as they won just four league games between February and the end of the season.

Pressley rebuilt the squad over the summer as 14 players left, while he made 10 new signings and brought in five loan players.

But the new-look squad has struggled this in 2019-20, losing 12 of their 23 matches in all competitions and registering just five wins in the league.

Pressley's side have won just one league game since the end of September.
