My laptop has started making a crikey noise whenever it starts up, It seems to be the fan. It´s a month old computer so age is not the problem, but dust could be. I´m thinking of opening it up and seeing if something has got in there that´s causing the ruckus, is that a fantastic or slightly bad idea? Anything to watch out for should I open it up?

If it's only a month old, take it back to where you got it from.

There lies my issue, I bought it in Estonia but I won´t be back there until christmas. I could have it mailed back but that would take forever and I´m not keen on spending all that time without a computer.

Usually you void any warranty by taking it apart, so be careful if you do. You could look at some fan monitoring Software first, to see if they are spinning properly, i haven't used any myself but know they are out there.

Just wondered if you managed to fix the issue? Which brand and model is it?
