I've just bought a Chelsea FC Poppy Lapel Pin  from poppyshop.com, which for anyone who doesn't know, is the official Royal British Legion onine charity shop.

Only £2.99 plus VAT and P&P, a truly excellent way of showing your support for the Royal British Legion and for the club, you can get yours here:

Mine arrived this morning, so there's still time to order in time for Remembrance Sunday. As it happens, I was on the phone the Poppy Shop this morning, ordering catalogues for elderly friends and relatives who aren't online.

There are of course many alternatives to the Chelsea FC Poppy Pin, including the Passchendaele 100 Collection, which have been selling like hot cakes, or from one of the many other Collections (including the Christmas Collection) available from the Poppy Shop.

Finally. a big thankyou is due on behalf of the British Legion to all those who have ordered or are about to order from the Poppy Shop.

I'd been looking for a Rangers Poppy Shop badge, but have just discovered that they were only available from Poppy Shop Scotland, which to my eternal shame, I didn't even know existed. So instead I bought one of these from eBay:

@Upsetter A cracking badge. I managed to buy a Rangers Poppy badge the other day from Poppy Scotland. If you look at my avatar you'll see it is for the Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal (RSEA). The RSEA was set up ten years ago by a couple of Rangers fans to raise monies for the Erskine a home for military veterans. Similar to the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Thanks for the info. I'd heard of the Erskine Appeal but didn't know of its origins.

The Rangers badge arrived yesterday, and in common with the Chelsea Poppy, the actual thing looks far better than the image. In retrospect, it's not surprising that the official Rangers Poppy badges had sold out, next time I'll make sure to order in plenty of time.

I will however, be buying my Christmas Cards from the Poppy Shop, probably a Bargain Box of 50 cards for £8.99 and a pack of Christmas Truce 1914 cards.

@Upsetter You're welcome.  I shall order the Christmas Cards.

I found about the Erskine Appeal about six years ago when browsing through Follow Follow a Rangers Fans Forum. I've managed to buy the RSEA badges for the last few years. One of the Rangers Fans who set up the appeal used to post on here.

The Erskine Hospital celebrated it's centenary last year and a wonderful book marking the event was produced and gives a very good account of its history. A couple of websites:

https://www.erskine.org.uk/

Harold Davis who played for Rangers is the Patron of the RSEA.

I've posted this picture already in the Rangers thread but worth repeating here.

A bit off subject but my local hospital celebrated its centenary this year. The hospital was setup in 1917 to treat service personnel who had received facial injuries in WW1. The work done to rebuild their faces was incredible. The hospital was setup by a New Zealander, Harold Gillies.

One of my cousins and his wife own a cafe. To mark Armistice Day they made the cake below. All monies made from selling pieces of the cake will be donated to Poppy Scotland. My cousin served in the King's Own Scottish Borderers for many years.
