February 19, 20197 yr I just don't get the current point to our play. We pass the ball to death, moving it from side to side in the final third with no end product. We work the ball to decent wide areas then we've always only got one attacker in the box, so we recycle it again, its unbelievably frustrating and very easy for an above average side to cope with. Where are the runners from deep? Non exisitant, the lads on the BBC are spot on, we could have the best striker in world in our team and it would make no difference. There are so many things wrong with this current team and the way they are set up its very depressing. Sorry to be so Negative but it hurts.
February 19, 20197 yr But it's just so much more advanced than the old fashioned approach of getting the ball, going forward quickly, getting a cross or shot in and hopefully scoring and wining the game. Nobody wants to see that anymore. Football is all about highly complex tactical systems of vertical triangles and horizontal diamonds now. Makélélé's and Essien's and Lampard's are dinosaurs. It's all about a register playing 3 yard sideways passes. You'll just have to get with the times I'm afraid. Look at last night and compare and contrast. We had all the possession and passed the ball around very nicely whilst United were just running around tackling and quickly running up the other end of the pitch and aimlessly crossing the ball into the penalty area and scoring. Their supporters we're clearly unhappy with that approach and just had to resort to singing and jumping up and down whilst our supporters had to leave early as they we're clearly experiencing too much of a good thing.
February 19, 20197 yr Sarri can't get his point across clearly. It's not like we are playing even remotely like his Napoli team, so it's not a question of whether the system works in England, but more of a question of whether it works with these players, and it looks like it doesn't. We have a squad that don't play any system particularly well. The defenders that can actually defend have no pace. The ones with pace make errors regularly. The midfielders aren't aggressive enough without the ball, and they don't offer enough in attack in terms of goals, killer passes, and attacking runs. The attacking players don't press, they dont link up well, they are very static, very stale, and they aren't enough consistent match winners. So there is no real point to our play at the moment, because we have team of players aren't good enough now, and a manager that is too stubborn to try anything remotely different.
