Full Members Cup v Portsmouth.

A 3-0 win with Bumstead, Hazard and King Kerry Dixon our scorers.

A crowd  of 6,833 ,saw it.

The ref was the magnificently named Gilbert Napthine😀

Wembley where we come, dare I even think it...😀

Next up is Man City away with an 11.39 kick off On Sat 5th Oct 1985

Sat 5th October 1985.

We beat !an City away 1-0 King Kerry Dixon scoring the only goal of the game in the 10th min.

Watched by a crowd of 20,104.

We are now 3rd  in the table. Man Utd dropping their first points of the season with a 1-1 draw at aLuton top the table.

 Our next game is Mansfield at The Bridge on Wed 9th Oct 1985

Then we face a really tough one. Defending Champions Everton at The Bridge on Saturday 12th October.

Wed 9th Oct 1985.  

We beat !Mansfield 2-0 in the Milk Cup.2nd Round, 2nd Leg. We progress.😀

Our scorer. King Kerry Dixon with both goals.  In the 48th and 54th mins respectively.
He had a penalty saved in the 78th min, so unfortunately missing out on a hat trick.

11,664 was the official attendance.

Next up is a difficult game. Reigning Champions Everton, at The Bridge on Sat 12 Oct 1985.

Due to the dispute between the TV Companies and The Football Authorities, there’s no tv cameras to record the action.

Sat 12th October 1985.

We beat Everton 2-1 at The Bridge.

Our goal scorers were King Kerry Dixon in the 4th and David Speedie in the 40th mins respectively.

Everton keeper Neville Southall was sent off in the 60th min. He’d already been booked in the 20th min.

Two penalties were missed in this match. Nigel Spackman put ours over the bar in the 21st min. Graeme Sharpe put his shot wid of the post in the 57th min

A very good win over the then reigning League Champions and European Cup Winners Cup holders.

Watched by a crowd of 27,634.

Shame there wasn’t  any tv coverage of this win. Due to the then ongoing domestic tv football blackout.

We are joint second in the 1st Division after this win. Man Utd at the top with 34 pts. Whilst Liverpool and ourselves have 24 pts.

Next up is an away game v Oxford Utd on Sat 19th Oct1985, with a 3pm kick off.

After the very good win over Everton.

We lost 2-1 away to Oxford Utd on Sat 19th Oct 1985.

King Kerry Dixon was our goal scorer in the 77th min.

Their winner was scored by former Chelsea player, Peter a Rhoades Brown. 
A crowd 12,073 of saw it.

We are now 3rd in the table.

Next up, is a game v Charlton Athletic in the Full Members Cup at Selhurst Park

 Wednesday, 23rd Oct 1985 Full Members Cup - Mini League / Round Robin played at Selhurst Park, we won 3-1 .

All the goals scored in the last 12 mins.
 Pat Nevin in the 78th and 90th mins and David Speedie in the 88th min.  They scored in the 80th min.
 

Watched by just 3,714 spectators.

Next up, is Man Utd at The Bridge on Sat 26th Oct 1985.

Sat 26th Oct 1985 and we went down 2-1 to Man Utd at The Bridge.

Our scorer was big Joe McLaughlin in the 75min.

Disappointing, as they were down to 10 men in the 43rd min after Graeme Hogg was sent off.


A crowd, officially, of 42,485  watched it.

We are 5th  in the table. Man Utd lead it by 10 points.

Our next game is v Fulham at The Bridge on Tues 29th Oct in the Milk Cup.

We then travel to Ipswich on Sat 2nd Nov 1985.

Tuesday 29th Oct 1985 saw a 1-1 draw v Fulham at The Bridge in the Milk Cup.

Our scorer was Micky Hazard in the 88th min. They equalised a min later, Carr scoring from the penalty spot.
 
A crowd of 19,699 saw the action.   Wonder how many left early and missed both goals ?

And so to a replay.

This will be on Wed 6th Nov 1985 at Craven Cottage.

Next up we face Ipswich Town away on Sat 2nd Nov 1985.

I believe there was some games at this time of the domestic pc tv football ban,covered  by bbc and itv and shown abroad.
I’ll try and see if I can find some footage later.

It’s got footage of some of our games that weren’t shown here due to the blackout of League games for a fair part of 1985 /86.

Seeing as we were on the fringes of the title race until our Easter from hell, it would have been nice to have more than one of our wins featured!
