loz
Not a great surprise after the run of results they have had - interesting that the Spanish press are speculating about Jose as a possible replacement. Doesn't seem that unimaginable to me. If he wants to manage in Spain then outside of the top two Valencia are every bit as attractive a proposition as anyone. Get him in and we may just see a familiar face at the Bridge on November 28th!
Gem
Lets get Villa! (I'm not totally obsessed with collecting strikers by the way but he does well for us in pro evo )
SydneyChelsea
Valencia is the only club in Spain that would welcome Jose openly IMO. Barcelona have too much ill history, and Real Madrid want to entertain. Valencia is perfect for Jose and perhaps in the more attacking Spanish league he will learn to produce a team that plays effective attacking football. It is a minor detail but if he learns then I think he is well on the way to being one of, if not the greatest manager in football history.
callista
I think Valencia is the right team for him in Spain for the reasons you've outlined above. I still think he will end up in Italy though. I don't see him having a problem in adapting to any style of play, he played how he did in the premier league because he figured the best way to do it with the players he had. If playing a different style of football will win him stuff in La Liga don't be against him producing what is required and everyone promptly being "shocked" that he has gone and done it. Not because I think we would lose just because seeing Jose there with another team trying to beat what used to be his team ! Just urgh no. Still if he does choose Valenica good luck to him. SydneyChelsea
Just some added thoughts- obviously Jose will come after a few of his players, but apart from Ferreira, I don't think Valencia have the cash to realistically afford anyone else. The ones I am worried about are Carvalho and Obi Mikel, both of whom are realistically within Valencia's price range. Or... Joaquin------------------Silva -------Drogba-----Villa ????? Valencia wouldn't be able to afford a 30m+ transfer fee, not after splurging on Villa and Joaquin in previous seasons...but Drogba is clearly attracted to Mourinho, he is a proven winner and players always want to play for up-and-coming teams.... Another question- if you were Jose do you take the Valencia job or do you wait for the AC Milan job? (Ancelotti is surely on his last legs now) Valencia: - Talented, but vastly underachieving squad; needs a breath of fresh air in management: ideal Jose territory - A crowd and fanbase that appreciates and in fact prefers pragmatism and results over flair and entertainment - The thrill of leading a group of underachievers and putting smiles back on the faces of suffering supporters - High expectations but also more room for error as the squad is very unstable. AC Milan - Mixed bag in the squad. Some insanely talented players but a lot of ageing dead wood that needs to be cleared. - One of the true giants of football, a club that players and coaches dream of; also, Jose said he always wanted to manage a top Italian club. - Likely to pay a lot more - Extremely high expectations- instant success required. If it were me, I'd take the Valencia job.
icecoolguy22
I would not fancy playing a Jose lead Valencia team next month. He knows us inside out, and there is the extra motivation of stick one into Roman and Kenyon.. Valencia would be ideal for Jose, good bunch of players, high but not unreal expectations, and should be some money for him to spend..

If it were me, I'd take the Valencia job. I agree I would take the Valencia job too, he's admired quite a few of the players that are already there, he knows the league, he speaks the language, he could prove to his detractors that he can play "flair" football rather than having to imploy even more defensive football in the Italian league. Also Milan usually prefer to hire from within, despite their precarious position in the league, I was amazed to find out that Milan have not won at home in about 5 or 6 games and are 11th in the league. Can you imagine if Jose had got us into that position? He would have been sacked long before that. I still think Jose will have a long wait on his hands if he thinks the Milan board will give Ancelotti they are going to give him the boot. Berlesconi and the Vice President seem still very laid back about their terrible form in the league, they appear fully supportive of him, genuniely so and seem to just be saying "oh well it happened like this last year and hey look we won the CL!". They have an ageing, demotivated squad with the odd stellar talent in between, they need root and branch surgery to try to breathe new life into the squad and I'm not sure how Jose would get on with the Milan hierarchy there, they seem very staid and careful of their prized image as a "grandee". The idea of Jose mouthing off just does not fit in with the Milan image at all. For me, if he wants to work this year, I think he has to take the Valencia job, it's more attractive literally in terms of the type of football he will be expected to play, the players they have and its a smaller team which he was used to with Porto that he could work his magic on, they are 4th in the league and hardly in a unrecoverable position, they are moving to a new stadium and have money to spend. At Milan he would be trying to impress players that have just about won everything and frankly have little hunger for more. So despite my shudders about the idea of him coming back the the Bridge, I actually think he should take the job, I would just hate to see him back here though in enemy colours would feel so wrong. I don't think Valencia would beat us though they are lacking something for me and since Grant is changing our style perhaps Jose would not know us as well as he thinks? evissy
I agree that Drogs is attracted to Mourinho, but if Grant makes us win and Drogs keeps scoring he wont be leaving to Valencia or anywhere lese for that matter. No way, I think that would be just stupid from DD. In Chelsea he can win, score goals, be adored by fans and get teammates he wants. In Valencia, well there is JM(possibly).
