IVANOVIK POISED TO SIGN

here's what I learned after watching that youtube clip...

... it is utter stupidity to make a youtube highlights video of a defensive player.

- he can throw the ball in well

- he gets upset if he attempts to cross the ball and mis-hits it

- he can slide into people

- he can knock into people

- he can clang into people

- he can occasionally emerge from a scrum and kick the ball into the net

Worst youtube vid ever?

Well honestly, it's not easy to make a nice vid about a defender. Much easier to make one about a midfielder or a striker or someone who does nice things with the ball.

I bet even a vid about JT wouldn't be much to get excited about icon_rolleyes.gif

Meant to be a more versatile Vidic. Can play anywhere along the back 4. Was Serbian U21 captain. Man Utd, Juventus, AC Milan and Real Madrid all sniffing around him. He's aged 23.

If he can turn out as Vidic and play anywhere in the defence then I would say this really is a good signing woohoo.gif

would he be able to replace Ben Haim? 128.gif

By the look of that video clip, I would say he is a lot more likely to replace Ferreira.

Grant likes his fullbacks to really push up and support the attack, and every time Paolo tries to do this, he looks like a fish out of water.

Okay, he's good looking enough to help Gem get over the loss of Lamps in the summer. So that's a start. icon_wink.gif But he does seem like a right back, who can also play elsewhere across the back. But honestly, are we buying him as a right back (and thus not buying Alves, who we need) or is he just being bought as a utility back up defender? Happy to have him as a utility defender to replace Gentle Ben (off to Newcastle?), but we need a specialist right back more than anything else (in defence), as we haven't had one since Chappie. So I hope getting Ivanovik doesn't stop us buying one.

8.6 mill for Ivanovic, and 10 milllion for Anelka are great deals. But if we are being given 50 mill by Roman, will we realistically spend over half of that on Berbatov? I just get the feeling that he will be a huge risk

I really think that we should be looking elsewhere other than berbatov, just incase the saga gets drawn out. We should not be placing all our eggs in one basket. 26 mill on a proven goalscorer, yes. 26 mill on a whinging bar steward with an Ego the size of Jimmy's arse, no thanks

Well if we are to believe that article then Grant wants two strikers (Berbatov & Anelka) a right-back (Ivanovic?) and also a midfielder.

So if we sign Anelka, Ivanovic and Berbatov for the prices the article mentions then we will have spent 44.6 mill.

If Grant is getting 50 mill to spend then that would leave us with a bit over 5 mill for a midfielder. Can we really get a good enough midfielder for that price?

There's been talks about Van Der Vaart but I really don't think we'll get him. I would be very surprised if he didn't end up in Juventus.

So what other midfielders have we been linked with?

Finally, 26 mill for Berbatov seems like too much for me. I know he's good but that's still alot of money. Could probably find cheaper ones who are just as good.

Personally I would like Klose but I don't think that's going to happen icon_sad.gif

50mill sounds really good, but if we splash out that much we have to expect some of our beloved players to leave as well.

I would be really pleased with: Van Der Vaart, Anelka and Ivanovic (who is this bloke?).

I don't think we are going to get VDV in january or even in summer, but I would love to have him at SB.

I think we are going to get Anelka and this Ivanovic guy and maybe some surprise midfielder. I love surprises icon_wink.gif!

Who will leave, I dont know. Maybe Sidwell.. We need to get a replacement then naturally. Bridge possibly if this unknown serbian comes.
