Posted March 18, 200816 yr An interesting article from Kevin MaCarra at the Guardian Article This is the league table for matches between the current top 7 clubs this season. Man U------P8--W6--D2--L0--Pts 20 Arsenal-----P8--W4--D4--L0--Pts 16 Liverpool----P9--W3--D5--L1--Pts 14 Portsmouth--P12-W2--D5--L5--Pts 11 Aston Villa---P10-W2--D3--L5--Pts 9 Chelsea-----P9--W1--D5--L3--Pts 8 Everton-----P8--W1--D2--L5--Pts 5 We really need to win those last three matches to claw back some of that deficit.
March 18, 200816 yr When it comes down to it, the title will be decided with results against the big- boys. The Grant supporters will still argue it wasn't his fault we lost to Manu, he'd only had a day with the players.......well 'erm he did actually join the club the previous January so it's not as though he didn't know them. The Arsenal game was Cech's fault they'll argue, despite not mustering a decent chance of our own. But the Portsmouth, Liverpool, Everton and Villa games? Oh and the only game we won was under Jose against Pompey at home Time to earn your corn Avi. Starting with Spurs who are not even top 7 side.
March 18, 200816 yr If that were true liverpool would still be in with a shout. You've got to consistently beat the other teams in the league, then have a decent record against the big boys!

Yep. Last season Arsenal had the best record from games between the top 4. Didn't help them much. One thing is sure though and that is you do need to have a decent record if you want to win it. Three wins from our last three games would give us 17 points out of a possible 36. Not great, but not terrible.

March 18, 200816 yr under jose when we played the big teams at home i thought it as a game to take points of them now i just hope we dont lose. i spent 1/4 of last season thinking man u at home was a guarnted 3 points.
March 18, 200816 yr Great article. He did face a gruelling assignment in following Mourinho and it may be that Grant's great contribution will lie in letting his own successor start with a clean sheet. One of the best assessments I've heard. Spot on.
