rahul
We all seem to be of the opinion that we need a world class RB. That has been a problem area for us for quite some time now. I wont mind having him, or even Ramos for that matter, provided their costs are not blown out of proportions just because Chelsea are interested. bluegraham
Mornin. In my view richards is a very good player who can play centre back aswell but i still think we shud have keeping Glen Johnson i rated him very highly and is still learning he's trade. Mr Chelsea
we have a top notch right back in paolo f and belletti provides ample cover and essien can also play there why is there a desire to buy another one?
Tim
If our biggest money signing is a defensive player, I will have a tantrum. We do not need to be splashing 20 odd million or more on a right back, centre back or any other defensive position.
coco
If it means Essien doesnt play at RB next season isn he worth every penny ?
kalpitv
I think the easiest one to get out of Dani Alves, Ramos, Rafinha, Maicon and Richards will be Richards. That's because, from what I know, he is very mcuh Sven's boy and he would be sad to see him go and would be interested in a move to one of the big four. Would be a good addition to the Chelsea squad but I hope he develops properly in these early stages. @coco : I want him to be a full-time central midfielder next season where he can show his true potential. But then, what happens to the Ballack-Lampard partnership?

TomP
I think Richards would fit beautifully into our squad. He has really matured as a player this season under Sven, and he would solve a couple of problems, as he could probably replace Belletti AND Ben Haim in the squad (maybe leaving room for someone like Maccience). The problem is, we have aparently tried to sign him in the last 2 summers, and he has been priced at 20 million + then. He is now a better player, a regular international and Man City aren't exactly in the same financial position as they were when we bought SWP. So, I would imagine his asking price would be something around the 25-30 mil mark, which is a lot of money for a defender, and puts him in the same price bracket as Alves, who is probably the better player.
