Jimboola69
Why did we never sign up Gus Poyet to out backroom staff? Within a calender year, Poyet has taken a job as Swindon assistant, moved on to be Leeds assistant, on to be assistant at the Spuds...and now sunday papers say that Fergie is an admirer and may well consider him for the job as Man Ure assistant!!!!! What a year!!!! B) Did we miss a trick here? I am sure he would have loved to be in Chelsea's backroom.
just
Why did we never sign up Gus Poyet to out backroom staff? Er. Well. Scuse me? Probably because he is Tottenham thro and thro and hated with a passion by a great many Chelsea fans. Poyet? Rather have Dean Saunders myself. Englishman
I've heard similar things, but still not sure what he did to get so many fan's backs up. Anyone got a link to some reading to enlighten me please!? During the Carling Cup semi with Spurs a few years ago, when they won 5-1, he made a point of running to the Chelsea fans and kissing his Spuds badge. Kinda soured his relations with a lot of Chelsea fans after that.

Chelsea FC Champions
Poyet dismisses Red Devils linkTottenham assistant first team coach Gus Poyet says he wants to stay at Spurs despite being linked with Man United. Following Carlos Queiroz's decision to become Portugal coach, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is looking for a new assistant. A string of names have been linked with the Old Trafford position, including Tottenham first-team coach Poyet. The former Chelsea midfielder was surprised to see his name come up in connection with the role, but has no plans to leave White Hart Lane. "It's nothing," Poyet told the club's official website. "It was a surprise to read it. "I want to stay at Spurs, I want to stay with this manager, this group of players and this club because I'm very happy. "When you are in England and you are lucky enough to be with one of the big teams you are always going to get speculation. "It happens, that's football - I've been around long enough to ignore it!" Poyet has built up a promising reputation as a No 2 having worked with Dennis Wise at Swindon and Leeds before joining Spurs last year when Juande Ramos replaced Martin Jol as manager.
