JT is the best defender on one of the best defensive teams in the BPL. Does he have baggage? Of course. But if I am an England supporter (I am from the USA...) then i want him starting at CB for my squad. And the kicker is excluding Rio....who else wouldn't want the man? going to use this forum to thank Juan Mata. He will never ever see this, but what a great player and an even better ambassador of the game. It pains me to see him go, but I am happy for him. I hope he makes the Spanish side in Brazil. 2 European titles and an FA cup. Wish it could last longer, but good for Jose for doing good by Juan. That shows the quality of Juan, that Jose would sell him to a rival because it is good for the player. (the 40m doesnt hurt either!) All the best to the man, unless he is playing our beloved blues. without selling Mata is this move still underwhelming? no. everybody would be excited about it. This on top of the Mata news automatically makes people compare the two and its not fair to Salah. Let the man prove if he's worthy or not. It has nothing to do with Juan Mata.

the negativity is mind-boggling. Mata was rotting on the bench. For reasons unknown he is not breaking into Jose's squad. So you sell him for a substantial sum and fill his spot on the bench with a player who adds a completely new dimension. Considering we end up playing 4-3-3 anyway, having two 10's is not important anyway, especially considering Hazard can slide in there just fine. Most of the Mata money will be used for a striker this summer anyway. I think its great business. Mata to United now thats a different conversation, but if you look at it separate from that, this is a class signing.

fantastic game. I mean lord..guttted for Lukaku. Will make him better. Tons of positives to take. Was nice to see us play attractively after the United game. We're going to be a force this year, and for the foreseeable future. Last thing, Jose was in his element tonight. Loved every second of it.

As a fairly new American CFC fan, interested to see what people view as some of the memorable moments in the clubs history. Obviously, the obvious moments we all know, but I am thinking more in terms of goals, moments, etc. Can be for CFC or against, I just want to know as much as I can about the club. Before you type to crack a joke at me, just move on to another topic! No time for hate!

I live in the US..Watched the whole thing live.. Thoughts: 1) Oscar, Mata, Hazard were dangerous all evening long 2) Not thrilled with striker play. Lukaku was decent and Torres had one tremendous run, but that was about it. Ba was invisible. Rooney for Ba is something that needs to happen in order for us to compete for every trophy available. 3) Van Ginkel played very very well. 4) Ive been skeptical of Moses, but he looked very dangerous. I think his width will be valuable in more than a few games. 5) Defense was solid. Cahill and Cole were the standouts. All in all, a good win against a decent enough opponent who really wanted a victory. (see the tackle on JT)

I dont know how many of you guys play FIFA, but what do you think CFC players will be ranked?

Luiz is a CDM to me. He looks more comfortable and that is where he has given his best performances. I would grab a CB too.

I just think that a big splash striker could be a big waste of funds considering you could have your future striker already in your squad (Lukaku). He exceeded expectations at West Brom and I think deserves a chance with CFC. Use those funds elsewhere. I do agree about him getting a season in Europe. That would be ideal, but we may have to pull the trigger sooner rather than later.

I would rather give Lukaku his chance then sign Gomez..similar players..spend the money on a CDM and a CB. A striker is needed, but I dont believe Gomez is what the club needs.

Who comes in? Who goes? Is Lukaku ready??
