Everything that Mata's
I think you're reading too much into things mate. He's not giving Mata to Utd to butter them up for the Utd job down the line.

Everything that Mata's
He also tweeted that Mata done no ball work and done only running and physical training away from the main group of players.

To be fair, we got stung with Torres. The Scousers done us for £50m. Torres when we bought him wasn't the same player he was, yet we threw money at him anyway. Mata will go to United pretty much fresh and off the back of two successful seasons.

Take that £40m and put it towards Falcao in the summer. Yeah, I like Falcao.

The fact we pay Ba a wage annoys me, he's bloody awful.

Everything that Mata's
The guys on SSN were slabbering over this story this morning, coming out with almost every conceivable reason why this deal must happen. "Chelsea have played United twice and will not face them again this season". "Mata is cup tied in the CL and if United drew Chelsea, Mata would be unable to face them". "United still have to play City and Arsenal, imagine the wry smile on Mourinho's face if he scored the winner in those games". "Mata wears the same brand of underwear as Davie Moyes, so it's meant to be". Ok, ok. I made that last one up ...

PSG want Hazard...apparently
What is it with French football these days, especially PSG and Monaco. Honestly they're worse than bloody City, throwing money around and thinking anyone and everyone is for sale at the click of their fingers. Let's not forget this is the same PSG who made "headlines" two months or so ago for saying they were "considering" meeting Messi's release clause. Absolute non event. Ligue 1 is a sh*thole and it doesn't matter how much money is thrown around to bring in a couple of top players, it's not in the top three leagues in the world. The only club I am worried about losing Eden to is Real Madrid, and they will come knocking if he keeps up this form. I'd be looking to tie Eden down to a new and improved five year contract this summer.

Hello from a Glasgow newbie!
You'd be surprised mate. The whole independence farce up here just now is exactly that, a farce. The 'Yes' brigade are using what I see as nothing more than anti English feeling to try and drum up votes, but the majority of Scots don't want to split the Union. In the bigger cities, you know the ones that are civilised, there's barely any anti English feeling. The problem in that regard comes more in the rural areas which are very cliquey (even toward Glaswegians from personal experience). Alex Salmond is nothing more than a modern day bigot, his one man crusade for independence is all about him and making sure his name goes down in history, rather than the good of the country. I personally work for an English company which has hundreds of offices in Scotland and who's to say my bosses wouldn't turn round and leave an independent Scotland due to tax reasons or other daft levies applied by the Scottish Government? My mortgage and family come long before any daft 'FREEEEEEDOM' nonsense (and you just know ITV Scotland will show that crap the night before the votes open).

Hello from a Glasgow newbie!
Then I apologise for jumping to conclusions. I know our little country north of the border isn't popular with some of our neighbours down south and I had anticipated meeting some folk on here who don't care for my support of an English club. Perhaps a little paranoia on my part.

Hello from a Glasgow newbie!
Glasgow's a cracking city if you know where to go and where not to go, like most places I suppose. I live in the Rutherglen area now, but I'm originally from the West End and spent most of my late teens/early 20's hovering around Byres Road and De Courcey's Arcade (CA Games & Lost In Music were regular haunts) as well as Ashton Lane. I used to drink in Curlers on Byres Road a lot, as well as Vodka Wodka and The Loft in Ashton Lane. The sad thing about Glasgow when it comes to football is the fact football isn't about football up here anymore. It's tiresome, too many people are stuck in this boring tit for tat, point scoring nonsense and the hatred between Rangers and Celtic fans continues to boil away. I am DREADING the first time they meet again. Pick up a paper here, the 'football news' is about tax cases, land deals between Celtic and GCC, newco/sevco, fans being jailed for Twitter abuse, etc. Football won't be about football again in Glasgow for a long, long time. The city itself though, much to our esteemed friend Uno's shock, is a fantastic city in terms of architecture, night life, social life, etc. The only sad thing about the city centre itself is the decline at it's 'edges'. If you stick to the 'good bit' of Argyle St and the likes of Sauchiehall St and Buchanan St then yeah, the choice of top class shops is second to none. However, go beyond Glassford St into the Trongate and it's like a third world country in places, although bafflingly the Merchant City (possibly the poshest area in terms of restaurants and clubs) is situation yards from the Trongate. Metropolitan remains one my favourite restaurants based in the Merchant City. I think our good friend Uno is indeed one of these people who naively and arrogantly believes we've never heard of trousers, live in mud huts, say 'auch aye the noo' and hunt haggis.

- Hello from a Glasgow newbie!
I get the distinct impression from my relatively short time here that you don't particularly like us Jocks.- Is Rooney worth a punt?
Rooney? No thanks. I think there's far better strikers we could buy for the money (and the wages) and Rooney has always come across to me as a torn faced, Scouse chav, not the kind of guy I want to see in a blue shirt. There are two strikers out there, both of whom recently moved clubs, who I would love to see us sign. The first is Falcao, I'd love to see him at the Bridge. The second, a different type of striker, is Cavani. If it's true that Falcao is unhappy in Monaco we should be bursting our guts to land him.- Cech or Courtois?
Tin hat on. I don't think Cech has been the same keeper since his head injury. That's not to say he's been poor, he's still been head and shoulders above most in Europe but the levels we seen before that game have never been reached again, not consistently. Courtois is a keeper we cannot afford to lose, he is going to become one of THE best keepers in the world and Barcelona have already been rumoured to be circling like the proverbial vultures. I'd bring Courtois back from Spain, loan him to a Premier League club next season and then move Cech to the older back up role come season 2015/16. For next season the team of Cech and Schwartzer (if retained) is the way to go. Just my view.- Mario Balotelli
Just seen that myself, Mario says he needs to be "tranquil" for the a World Cup. Loony, lol- Mario Balotelli
Thoughts guys? Do we need to spend £25m now for Balotelli or would you rather go with what we've got and use that £25m towards the purchase of Falcao?- The official 'Up Yours, John Alridge' thread
Says a lot that regardless of how many goals he scored, he pays the bills by what can only be described as trolling the internet. f**k him, typical bitter Scouser. He goes on about buying the title yet look how much money Liverpool have pissed down the drain on mediocre signings while trying to do the same. £35m on Carroll, £13m on Henderson, etc. If we spend £35m you know we're bringing in a name, a proper quality player. Liverpool spend £35m and only manage to attract Carroll. That's f**k all to do with history or tradition Mr Aldridge, it's just that no genuine world class players want to play for your bottle merchants.- Mario Balotelli
Just seen this doing the rounds on Twitter, CaughtOffside.com are saying the deal is £25m and to be completed in "the next 48 hours". I'm on the fence with this one, he's got unbelievable talent but he seems to be completely uninterested in realising it. If he could screw the nut and focus on his game seriously he'd be immense. He's one of life's jokers.- Hello from a Glasgow newbie!
Never tried it mate, can never catch one of the buggers ...- Everything that Mata's
Jose likes his midfielders to play in a certain way which involves tracking back and winning back possession if you lose it. Willian has shown in his starts that as much as he does the normal part of his role as an attacking midfielder, he can adapt and play the Jose way by tracking back and doing the "dirty work" too. Mata doesn't seem to be able to adapt his game to this way of thinking, which is why there's players ahead of him now. He's still a key part of the squad though and no I wouldn't swap him for Rooney!- Southampton v Chelsea (PL) 1/1/14 KO 15:00 GMT
Great result, just catching up with tonight's MOTD highlights. Torres reactions were lightning fast for his goal, really smart finish and great to see him on the scoresheet again.- Just gonna leave this here. .
What a surreal thread, lol Lamps. JT. Cech. Goals. Clean Sheets. Incest ...- Chelsea v Liverpool (PL) 29/12/13 KO 16:00 GMT
Yeah I love the old "siege mentality". They know we're a good team. They know we're a threat. That's why the try and knock us.- Chelsea v Liverpool (PL) 29/12/13 KO 16:00 GMT
I thought it was his best performance in a Chelsea shirt yet. He was great going forward, always looked for the ball, but the amount of times he tracked back and won back possession was staggering. It's this part of the game which Mata seemingly is unable to adapt to, and it's the Jose way. He wants midfielders to contribute going back the way as much as going forward, and Willian today showed he's very much a Jose Mourinho player. Great performance. - Hello from a Glasgow newbie!
