The clothes/ hair on the spectators look more 84 than 77. I think the East Stand seats were a dark green rather than blue in 70s, plus the club badge by the directors box was definitely a mid 80's thing.

Your Alltime Rubbish Chelsea Team
I did think about including Alan Mayes but he actually averaged a goal every three games roughly- 20 from 61. F..k knows how- he was short, tubby, slow and sported a ridiculous pudding bowl haircut- looked like a right twat. I think Ivanovic a couple of years ago could have warranted a place- he was a very good servant for the club generally but was woeful in Jose's last couple of months- he got skinned alive week in week out- looked like he was running in treacle-and still picked because Mourinho felt we needed height in the team.. Geremi as alluded to earlier weren't much good but did have a cool nickname- Ron!

Amazing athlete and amazingly sloppy in possession. He got a lengthy ban whilst out on loan at West Brom for nutting the ref!

Your Alltime Rubbish Chelsea Team
What's the worse Chelsea team you can muster. Mine tend to feature players from previous decades; a lot of them tried there best and simply weren't up to. Feel free to include talented players who couldn't be bothered or anyone you simply didn't like. KEEPER- Dave Beasant DEFENCE- Darren Barnard, Winston Bogarde, Micky Nutton, Dale Jasper MIDFIELD- Darren Wood, Vinnie Jones, Graham Wilkins, Graham Rix ( nonce) FORWARDS- Trevor Aylott, Robert Fleck

You used to be able to see the old floodlights from the railway bridge that crosses the Thames on the way to Victoria. Id say lights are a lot brighter now than yesteryear. When Palace are playing you can see Selhurst Park floodlights from the top of Wimbledon Hill which is a good 5 miles

I didn't know there was a floodlight behind the old East Stand- thought there was just one on each corner. They were the tallest floodlights in the football league I believe?

No, different bloke mate.

Five Chelsea games you would love to have attended.
There never seemed to be the same amount of people coming back from the game, as going to the game on the specials- never able to work out why? Sometimes they'd be people up in the luggage racks, or hiding under tables or in the bog when the ticket collector did his rounds! A bloke called Winkle whose no longer with us used to be a fixture on the trains in the early 80's. He was a good laugh but a real pain the backside RIP

Top 5 Aways... Man City 84. We did loads of road trips that year in my mates Escort Estate- back seat down- couple of crates of Pils. Superb support. When I get together with my oldest pals for some reason that's the game we talk about more than others. After parking up we walked down a backstreet to find a group of about 20 geysers walking towards us- looked like they'd all come straight off a building site- heads down keep walking we thought... Turns out they were Chelsea- they're were loads of chaps everywhere that night. Ps for me 50th a mate got me a signed/ framed programme from this game. Grimsby 84- very hot and super packed in our end. I'm not sure whether any trains were running that day but saw a massive convoy of Chelsea coaches on the A1 Portsmouth Midweek 84- Nice spring evening, afternoon on the piss in Southsea, loads of offs, great fun all round Arsenal in the League Cup 98- not the most important game, but the first time I ever saw us win against them. We got given a big allocation- first time a lot of us had heard the now famous Arsene Wenger songs. Took the piss all night. Super Cup v Real Madrid. Played in Monaco, spent 5 days in Nice, daytimes sunning on the beach- night in the bars with other Chelsea. Once again, not a massively important game, but I do remember thinking at the time, we've just seen our team beat the mighty Real- had a fantastic trip- it ain't gonna get much better than this.

Some shockingly low crowds there, considering the game was supposedly booming after the 66 World Cup triumph. Im guessing it was a crap weather day. Also if ever there was a poor turnout- even into the 80's in was usually the week before Xmas- everyone's skint, plus planning to attend local derbys on Boxing Day plus 3rd Round of FA Cup etc

That's my all time favourite Chelsea badge on the screen, with the turquoise outer rim. There used to be one similar by the Shed turnstiles, and I think by the directors box in the middle of the East Stand. Very classy....

- Chelsea Christmas pressies from yesteryear.
Stuart's of Shepherds Bush on the Uxbridge Road- your right it's still there. It was Sharp Sports off Kensington High St I believe. We used to get our Wedge haircuts at Robert Fielding Hairdressers in Croydon- forever flicking the front bit out your eyes! Ive got a supporters club ID card from 82 somewhere at home from 82- wedge and navy Lyle and Scott polo shirt- I'll dig out and post soon- Chelsea Christmas pressies from yesteryear.
Nothing wrong with Kappa back in the day. We got tipped the wink on a clothes shop off the Walworth Road in 83, that was selling this obscure label called Robe de Kappa ( if was hard to get hold of stuff back then, and most of the best places were independent shops in rough areas) Anyway we bought a couple of bits and went for a pint afterwards on East Street- there was an afternoon strip going on in the Masons Arms- remember some bird doing her stuff to that Steven Tin Tin Duffy track " Kiss me with your mouth". Good old stripper music that! Stuck in my mind ever since- Chelsea Christmas pressies from yesteryear.
It became a bit of a nuclear arms race clobber in the casual years. The main reason I quit A Levels and started work was because I was money hungry for clothes and be able to go to away games. One thing I thought that looked rotten was Tachini Tracksuits including bottoms. Not a patch on Fila BJ tracksuit tops IMO. One thing that sticks in my mind- when we played Pompey away back end of 84, there was a geezer sitting opposite me on the train back home- he was about 25, had a boxers face, 5 day stubble ,and looked well hard- he was wearing and orange and black diagonally striped Lacoste jumper which looked the bollox. He reminded me of a cross between Rocky Marciano and a Bengal Tiger!- Chelsea Christmas pressies from yesteryear.
I also had Grandparents in Earlsfield. My Grandad started going in the 20's. Funnily enough I don't think he liked us much when he got old and decrepit. He was always going on about us being rubbish on whatever game he'd seen on the telly, and hated hooligans. "Stick 'em in a boxing ring and they'd s..t themselves", was a favourite of his- Away support
Agree with all the above. Come the 90's on average we were taking away the usual 3000, but when we went to places like Forest and Sheff Wednesday in the Cup we were taking 5000 plus because we received bigger allocations. Going back to the early 80's, most of our big turn outs - Derby Cup 83, Leeds a few years on the spin, Cardifff, Man City, Pompey, Brighton etc were games where there was a chance of a big punch up. There were 'sleeper' Chelsea fans who'd turn up maybe 4 games a year. A cousin of mine who ended up in Broadmoor and had zero interest in football, went to Brighton away in 83 because all his nutty mates were going and he thought it would go off. Special mention should go when we first qualified for Europe again in 94/95. We took thousands to places like Bruges, Vienna and Zaragoza.- Chelsea Christmas pressies from yesteryear.
Diamond Pringles were 40 quid in 82. With Lois jeans, Lyle and Scott roll neck, Diadora or Stan Smiths wheels you were looking 100 pounds plus for a standard uniform. That's got to be 400/ 500 pound in today's money?- Chelsea Christmas pressies from yesteryear.
Yes. They really were excellent. Superb quality badge, navy blue lambswool. Much better than all this Merino crap- Chelsea Christmas pressies from yesteryear.
There was a shop on the top floor of the Arndale Centre in Wandsworth that was brilliant for Chelsea stuff in the 70's. Scarves, sew on badges, pennants etc. Sometime around 79 I received a blue and yellow triangular pennant for Xmas ( for a while blue and yellow almost took over from blue and white as our colours on stuff I remember?) As mentioned football annuals were a common Xmas present- I collected then for a bit- probably got up to about 30 from jumble sales and the like- Charles Buchan was a good one. The coverage of Chelsea diminished as we got worse through the 70's- I'm not sure what annual it was in but there was a feature on Chelsea's H- Men in one- Hollins, Hutchinson, Harris, Hudson and Hinton. I remember another article on Micky Droy- he was asked about the influence of fans- said he didn't notice them as much at home due to Shed being a distance from the pitch but they were a big help at vital away games. Stupidly when I moved into my first flat which had no storage I gave all my Annuals away. I think that Shoot came out on Saturdays? My older brother used to bring it home from his paper round. He'd have first go, I'd be pestering him to read quicker because I was up next, and my younger brother would go after me. We were firm believers in a pecking order! When I started Secondary School in 78 I palled up with a couple of twins- one was Chelsea, the other West Ham, and they shared a bedroom. Exactly half of the walls were completely covered in Chelsea posters from Shoot and Match weekly, and the other half was head to toe in West Ham stuff. Whenever they had a barny they'd tear down each other's posters!- Five Chelsea games you would love to have attended.
Three team mates from back then have spent time in Her Majesty's B and B's. Kerry Dixon, Micky Thomas and Canners. Bit of a coincidence when you think about it. Graham Rix also went in. Jody Morris, Frank Sinclair and Dennis Wise managed to narrowly escape. Have any other Chelsea players ended up in the big house?- Witty/Humorous Player Nicknames
Geremi- Ron Clive Walker- Flasher- and not because he was quick Peter Bonetti- Rita Spaghetti Zola- Red Rum ( Dennis Wise called him that owing to his big teeth) Not a Chelsea player but a personal favourite was Sheffield Wednesdays Gilles De Bilder- Bob- Your unpopular opinion about Chelsea
I wish just once Roman would allow an interview. Harpo Marx had more to say for himself. Maybe he's got a terrible lisp or a girlie high pitched voice- 10 people that have played for Chelsea and Liverpool in Premiership
Well played. I didn't know the definitive answer myself- someone popped the question in the pub last night. In the pre-premiership era I can only think of Speedie and Tony Hately. - Chelsea Christmas pressies from yesteryear.
