December 22, 20178 yr What's the worse Chelsea team you can muster. Mine tend to feature players from previous decades; a lot of them tried there best and simply weren't up to. Feel free to include talented players who couldn't be bothered or anyone you simply didn't like. KEEPER- Dave Beasant DEFENCE- Darren Barnard, Winston Bogarde, Micky Nutton, Dale Jasper MIDFIELD- Darren Wood, Vinnie Jones, Graham Wilkins, Graham Rix ( nonce) FORWARDS- Trevor Aylott, Robert Fleck
December 22, 20178 yr I'd put Sullivan in before Beasant, who was good for us till his last few appearances. Les Fridge would be most people's worst ever keeper for his one and only game, but I never saw it. I actually quite rated Barnard. Graham Wilkins would be my worst ever fullback, and I was never comfortable with Gareth Hall in the team. Jasper had talent but never showed it in the first team, and will be remembered for his nightmare on the ice up at Roker Park. I know he was a bit of a cult figure but Doug Rougvie was a donkey. I might chuck in Djilibodji as well. In recent years Cuadrado and Di Santo were pretty woeful. Salah was crap as well, based on his appearances with us. Darren Barnard scored one of the best volleys I've ever seen, but it was for Barnsley.
December 22, 20178 yr Paul Furlong was useless, Erland Johnsen would be in there with Bogarde, i thought Newton was bad but he was better than Mikel.

I always rated Eddie Newton. I know Mikel had his limitations, but he should never be brought up in threads like this by anyone.
December 22, 20178 yr Erland Johnsen was one of our key CBs alongside Ken Monkou for 2-3 seasons and I thought did an ok job for the period. This was before RA and MH and on the rebound from being demoted. Vinnie Jones was a strange one that certainly added a bite of bite to the team and scored one of the goals away at Anfield in our first win there for decades. Got the fastest booking in FA cup history against Sheffield Utd and then later showed clever restraint by keeping his hands behind his back as one of the Blades players was trying to knock him out. He didn't last a season, was a limited player yet certainly felt after him the team fought a bit harder.

That was very good tactics by Gullit when we got stuffed at Stamford Bridge 4-2 in October when Wimbledon just smashed the ball up field with a back 3 and Leboeuf as the sweeper in the semi he changed to a back 4 and EJ was a beast and headed everything out. He also won he penalty against Leicester. Frank Sinclair was one who had an awful touch. Wow that really brings back some memories, that was the start of the trophy haul then.

During his spell at Chelsea he was one of the worst players i had seen, cant be compared to the 90's i guess as it was a totally different era.

I agree with Frank Sinclair we always looked weaker when he was playing though one of his saving graces was that he scored with several cracking headers.
December 22, 20178 yr Bosnic Del Horno Ben Haim Bogarde Boulahrouz Wright-phillips Miniero Jokanovic Cuadrado Sutton Torres (90s kid)

He had a great leap on him. Its mad thinking what some fans are spoiled to these days and back in the 90s i was running round the living room after reading teletext when we signed Gullit and Hughes. Well when Zola signed with how big Italian football was that was just something else. Hoddle and Gullit between them managed to attract players who took Chelsea onto the next level. Gullit was such a harsh sacking though.

Boulahrouz was another strange one, he didn't stay long and didn't look comfortable yet played magnificently against Barca keeping Ronaldo quiet.. SWP - For me was never Chelsea quality, with his skill-set should have been playing mid-table where his limited skill-set would have been appreciated. Jokanovic - not sure we played him enough. Torres - has been covered so much over the years though none of us so far have mentioned Shevchenko! Cuadrado didn't show much during his brief spell here and never heard of Miniero.
December 22, 20178 yr Sutton - All ended in first appearance when he missed 2 one on ones, never came back from that apart from a great header against Utd. Sutton was a great prem forward though before his Chelsea move, im sure he got a few injuries before he signed for us. Sheva - obviously past it but i hated the way Chelsea changed formation to accommodate such a player, to play him up front with a legend like Drogba was a bad call, im suprised Mourinho did it in his 3rd year and losing the title. Also Chelsea got bad bad injuries that year.

I don’t even remember Jokanovic playing for us so I’d stick in Steve Sidwell. Sutton & Torres would definitely be replaced by Di Santo & Pizarro. I couldn’t included Bogarde, I can’t rate a player who basically didn’t play! Move Boula inside and Glen Johnson can come in based solely on being a knob and not on footballing ability
December 22, 20178 yr Maybe: Turnbull Del Horno Bogarde Ben Haim Boulahrouz Jokanovic Jarosik Minerio Maniche Torres Kezman But there are a lot of other possibilities, such as: Shevchenko, Sidwell, Sullivan, Pizarro, Geremi, Smertin, Di Santo, Quaresma, Zhirkov, Benayoun, Marin

Amazing athlete and amazingly sloppy in possession. He got a lengthy ban whilst out on loan at West Brom for nutting the ref!
December 22, 20178 yr Remember watching Jokanovic away at Ipswich on a freezing cold Boxing Day. He was supposed to be a holding midfielder.....He was pants we went from being 2-0 up to drawing 2-2.... Can't freaky say he did anything in that game.... Also Sam Della Bona played as well.
December 22, 20178 yr Jesper Grønkjær. Yes i know he showed some promise, a fast winger always raises the attention, but sadly he was rubbish more often than not.

Isn't life strange, his late winner against Liverpool won us Champions League football and led RA to invest in SB rather than WHL.
December 22, 20178 yr Papy D needs to be included. Probably the only team he deserves to be included Edited December 22, 20178 yr by TheChelseaBlues
December 22, 20178 yr Only thing I remember Jokanovic doing was getting a 2nd yellow card for deliberate handball, picking it up when he thought he was fouled.
