Christian Pulisic - Official
I don't think Pulisic is getting a fair shake. Was bright for a few weeks and adding a dimension nobody else could. Then Potter put him at RWB and quickly decided he's had enough of that. If as a sub he needs to come on much earlier to have a chance to impact. But I keep asking myself since Pulisic has had some good moments of late, what are Sterling and Mount doing which somehow is preventing Pulisic from getting a real run? I don't see it. Even coming on late mid week he could have had two late assists.

Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager
I think Potter is too scared to put Sterling and Mount on the bench because of the names on the back of the shirt, instead of looking at their actual performances. Doesn't have the stones for a big club. Saw some journo mention it a few weeks back. Potter is making decisions based on the history of the names of the back of the shirt instead of what's right in front of him. If his stones are too small to make tough decisions at a big club I'm gonna call him Pecan Potter. We need a manager with some royal chestnuts in his pants. Instead we have Pecan Potter.

Mason Mount
I don't think much differently about Mount as I do about Sterling at this point. Both go 90 a week and neither are close to deserving it. Week after week we get nothing from them in the run of play. It just isn't working at all. This might be controversial but I care not. I am convinced Mount is not an attacker. He has been played out of position all season. He just doesn't have the quality to be in the front 3-4. Can't score a goal and most his assists come on set pieces.

Last time my mother in law visited I walked into the kitchen and she was eating some concoction of mustard, ketchup, left over Chinese food, all on top of romaine lettuce. I looked at my wife, shook my head and turned around and walked back out of the room. Threw up a little in my mouth just seeing it. For some reason that moment is what I think of when now watching this side under Potter. The ingredients are there to make a much better meal but he's making a turd salad and has somehow convinced himself that is the best option.

Raheem Sterling signs for Chelsea
Does he have pictures of Potter's wife in compromising positions? Why else is he starting every week. On performances he's one of our worst players. Still not a league goal or assist since August. FFS what are the standards here to keep running this bum out for 90 a week?

I think you're right as Pulisic is better on the dribble and better at creating. Sterling isn't offering anything in run of play. He plays like he's 33 not 27.

It was a nonsense tweet from a fake account. You really think this is true lol?

Chelsea v Dinamo Zagreb (CL) Wed 2nd Nov 2022 20:00 GMT
Resting makes sense when they're playing well. They aren't playing well. Actually our guys need reps and Potter needs to figure out a better system. A match where the result doesn't matter for us is very good at the moment.

Much bigger issue is with signing Sterling AND THEN playing him all over the fooking place and mostly at wingback, than buying him in the first place. The issue is there isn't any kind of a coherent plan. And its not like the players don't know they are all being played out of position. THEY KNOW. Maybe that's why no energy. The players know they are being setup to fail once the team sheet is put out. It's like having a fat doctor telling you to lose weight. You stop listening soon as he opens his mouth.

I have a crazy idea. Stop buying wingers to play at wingback and instead buy a creative mid and allow the wingers to play as wingers. While I'm at it, for a side which struggled to score letting Giroud and Lukaka go and buying Auba who is years past it as a replacement is dumb. Why are we always linked with more and more and more wingers. Get a creative mid, a Kante replacement and a striker. Until then go 4 in the back, play Mount in midfield and play the wingers as wingers. Did anyone ask Potter how he plans to play before hiring him? Fire Tuchel for playing 3 in the back then hire Potter who plays 3 in the back. Would any of the other 19 PL managers say Sterling/Pulisic are wingbacks if they were asked. No! So much of this is self inflicted stupidity.

Our attackers aren't suddenly terrible. They're being played in a system which sets them up to fail. Sterling didn't suddenly lose the ability to play football. He's just not a wingback. This has been going on for a month now. Pulisic went from looking real positive a couple weeks ago to struggling. Because he's not a wingback either. Kai can't lead the line. Mount is not a creative player even though he's being asked to be. And all of that is leaving the defense outnumbered with huge gaps to take advantage of whenever we lose the ball. Don't tell me our players aren't quality enough to not get run off the pitch by Brighton. This is on Potter and his system.

Seriously. Playing Sterling/Pulisic at wingback is setting them up to fail. Blaming the result on either being played well out of position says that person doesn't know what they're watching or understand the setup.

Why can't we have a manager who plays players where they belong.

Said it a few days ago that Sterling/Pulisic at wingback negates them both. It also negates their ability to create for Auba. So right there you have killed the attack. And it hurts us defensively as well, they're attackers, not defenders. Mount is also not playing well and not being played where he should either. The entire shape is been awful. Potter is seriously neutering the attack while hurting our defense. Bottom line is any manager players wingers as wingbacks is being stubborn and choosing his system over the players he has. That never ends well.

The devotion to wingbacks and playing Sterling/Pulisic there is going to limit us in league play.

I don't think they're playing poor either. But they're too deep to contribute much in the final 3rd.

Sterling and Pulisic are wasted as WB's. And Auba couldn't score in a brothel.

The midfield regularly doesn't play the ball quick enough to the attackers. Lack of creativity is an issue. But lack of quick direct forward passes is another. We very rarely get attackers in 1v1 situations. And Mount can't attack on the dribble so right there every match 1/3 of our attack is hurt.

Raheem Sterling signs for Chelsea
Since Sept 1st Sterling has played 672 minutes and has 1 goal and 1 assist. Both are in UCL. None in league matches.

He looks old. Past it.

Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager
Mount at least is a work horse who glues everything together defensively. When Sterling isn't scoring he isn't helping. Since Sept 1st Sterling has played 672 minutes and has 1 goal and 1 assist. Both are in UCL. None in league matches. Since Sept 1st Pulisic has played 123 minutes and has 1 goal and 1 assist. Both in league matches as Potter won't even playing him in UCL. Imagine if Pulisic played the next 550 minutes and didn't get a goal or assist. What would be said about him. He'd only be doing what Sterling has done. You have to start asking, what is Potter looking at. Just the name on the back of the shirt? At least rotate in the players who are playing better. As to Mount I think he's best in midfield. Playing him at RW every match will never see us attacking as we should.

Potter is too stubborn. Or thick headed. Guys play terrible match after match and still in the XI. Guys play well as a sub and don't get a shot in the XI. Sterling shouldn't be in the XI based on performance for weeks. Only reason he is is Potter's thick head.- Chelsea v Man Utd (PL) Sat 22nd Oct 2022 17:30 GMT
Might have been different without Sterling against wasting chance after chance. At some point he needs to sit on the bench. - Chelsea v Man Utd (PL) Sat 22nd Oct 2022 17:30 GMT
