Should Graham Potter be sacked? (2nd poll)
Exactly my point, so why does a single top half finish and a 28% win rate in the premier league over 3 years at Brighton qualify Potter for the Chelsea job? Tony Pulis, Big Sam, Roy Hodgson, Alan Pardew and even Steve Bruce pre Newcastle all got better results at smaller clubs with smaller budgets than Potter over the last decade, did anyone want any of them to manage us? To take over from Jose or Ancelotti? Probably not So why Potter?

Should Graham Potter be sacked? (2nd poll)
I don't get comments like this given Pochettino is indisputably a better manager than Potter and our injury prone squad have just brought Potter the best 19 game run of results of his career in English football, at no point in his Brighton career did Potter win 8 out of 19 games. I'm not sure if it's the consistent PR he gets from his mates in the media but I feel Like a lot of people feel Potters record is a lot a better than it is. What concerns me is with Villa winning today they're now level on points with us, Unai Emery took over in November and has won more than half his games seeing Villa rise up the table. He's not had time or a window and his squad is dogsh*t but like Poch he's indisputably a better manager than Potter, their records show it so I wouldn't expect us to be able to compete with Villa this season or next season because their coach is a couple tiers above ours. It's not like replacing prime Jose or Tuchel it's actually hard to find a manager in the premier league with a worse record than Potter.

Should Graham Potter be sacked? (2nd poll)
I said Tuchel should stay because he's a proven winner and I had full trust in him at to turn things around given his record. Potter has just had the best results of his entire English career with us, I'd rather we didn't move further towards the 28% win rate Potter had in the league at Brighton or the regular double digit runs he went on without a win His stans constantly mention Arteta but why is Potter the next Arteta and not the next Hodgson, Moyes or Nuno? Albeit all 3 of those did better jobs at smaller clubs than Potter did at Brighton

Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager
Slept on it but I'm having a hard time seeing where this support of Graham Potter is coming from or why people are operating under the Delusion he did particularly well at Brighton. He didn't despite the media PR and constant ass licking he got he won 28% of his premier league games there and finished in the top half once. While having a worse win percentage than Pulis at Stoke, Big Sam across all his clubs, Roy Hodgson across his clubs, Moyes at Everton, all 4 managers significantly less money than Potter. All 4 scoring more goals per game as well. Is that really enough to be linked with a big side? He wouldn't be here if he wasn't English. The man went 11 games without a league win last season. had another run of 6 conseuctive losses. Runs like that arent good enough for any serious side. I can strongly relate to how Newcastle fans felt about Steve Bruce were we quite clearly have a crap manager with the complete wrong mindset but because of his nationality and his friends in the media there's a complete lack of any deserved criticism

Should Graham Potter be sacked? (2nd poll)
Potter has managed us for 19 games. We've won 3 were Kepa wasn't man of the match I don't rate our keepers but we're getting battered every single game either losing or needing our keeper to bail us out. It's not good enough.

That's a fair point. But the fact that Pulis unironically achieved far more as a manager than Graham Potter has just makes it even more painful. Pulis at Stoke had better results and higher finishes with a lower Budget than Potter at Brighton.

I Disagree, backing Potter with a big money signing is the last thing we should do. unless we seriously flirt with relegation the next few months will likely be about making sure we have the right man in charge for the summer. A big money Potter signing which the next manager doesn't want is a repeat of the mistakes we've made year after year and how we've ended up with a squad like this this. Potter doesn't have the resume or the job security to be backed this window, give him another loan but he's shown nothing to suggest we should be spending money on his targets

Keep us up. A feat that may be beyond Roy Hodgson Graham Potter

He had 3 double digit winless runs with Brighton including an 11 game run last season were their fans booed him off and called for him to go so this is the Potter standard. It's what we hired.

Which of those managers does Potter have a better resume than? When clubs like Villa and Wolves are hiring more successful and proven managers than us while they're in the bottom 5 that should be sending alarm bells to anyone. Potter isn't a Chelsea manager his resume shows nothing to suggest he was ready for an elite club.

Genuine question - Do you think Potter could challenge for 4th with City or Arsenals squad? I don't. We have a poor squad but the manager is so awful he actively makes it worse, he doesn't win many games, he's never won many games he's always been at clubs were winning 1 game a month, having more shots on target in 1 or 2 other games got him massive praise but his teams simply don't score many goals or win many games regardless of the players at his disposal. There's no signs either with us or in his previous career to suggest he can consistently win games or have us competitive at the top and I don't want to waste a penny backing him in the window. He has to go for the sake of our status as a big club. We'll always be more worried about the teams behind us than challenging for anything under Potter because that's the kind of manager he is as was Moyes at United and Hodgson at Fulham. Remember how we felt when they had those Turkeys in charge? Rival fans feel exactly like that about us now. He's just nowhere near good enough to be near an elite club. His results with us are still much better than his time as Brighton so why would people expect radical improvement from Potter?

Without even mentioning the top managers or managers like Poch, Enrique and Bielsa that are free the bottom half has managers like Moyes, Unai Emery, Lopetegui, Rodgers 4 managers that have indisputably had better careers then Potter. I wouldn't want any of the 7 desperately but I'd take all 7 over Potter Potter really is as bottom of the barrel as it gets, it's like if a team at the top hired Ian Holloway when his Blackpool was getting media hype a decade ago

Moyes was a much better manager than Potter both at united and at Everton were he achieved much more than Poteer on a smaller budget. Potter feels more like Roy Hodgson at Liverpool to me a tier below Moyes

This forum doesn't have enough bandwidth to list all the better managers than Potter in the game today

Boehly should be happy this is what he wanted 2-1 defeats to midtable sides while Brighton had more shots are exactly the results Potter got praised for last season.

I said we'd finish bottom half the moment Potter got hired, didn't think it would be so quick but didn't expect many wins. His record shows he doesn't win many games so no reason to expect that to change

I only mention Poch as he was the obvious choice in the summer when I said Potter shouldn't on the 20 man shortlist. Not sure how things have changed now, it doesn't have to be Poch in but there are still 20 probably 30 now better managers easily available than The Roy Hodgson at Liverpool tribute we hired

It took 58 minutes but Joao is already sick of playing under Potter. Fingers crossed it's the last he will. Think he'd really suit Poch

Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager
Given these players have just brought him the best run of results in his entire top level managerial career I'm not sure how you can blame them? He's won 8 of 19 games here, pretty poor but far better than his usual 5 wins every 19 games with Brighton that got him this job. Not sure you can blame Chalobah who looked good under Tuchel for his lacks of wins there. The man just isn't a very good manager, he's a Roy Hodgson at Liverpool regen. Noithing about his career suggests he should have ever been on our shortlist let alone get hired by a top club. The squad isn't good enough to win trophies, it isn't bad enough to go down despite last seasons media darling making it look like it.

The worst manager I've seen with us in my lifetime. I'm sorry Scolari I was much too harsh on you. The biggest thing I can say about Potter is he looks like a manager that has won 31% of his games in English football and had more draws and more losses than wins at his previous clubs. We can't complain we didn't get what we hired.

Fulham v Chelsea (PL) Thur 12th Jan 2023 20:00 GMT
Chin up lads. Even if we lose today these 19 games will be the most successful 19 Game period of Potters career in English football. His Brighton team never Had results as good as this over a 19 game stretch. this is peak Potterball.
-
Fulham v Chelsea (PL) Thur 12th Jan 2023 20:00 GMT
Amongst dullards and his mates in the English media he was My point is that there was no reason to ever rate Potter, 1 top half finish with Brighton is not some particularly impressive resume. The idea of Potter as this top manager was an absurd one in the summer before we hired him.
-
Fulham v Chelsea (PL) Thur 12th Jan 2023 20:00 GMT
Villa just got Unai Emery and Wolves Lopetegui 2 managers both far more successful and have regularly outperformed Potter their entire careers and have both made better impacts with words squads and less time than him Why are we scraping the bottom of the barrel why bottom half clubs are hiring proven winners?
-
Fulham v Chelsea (PL) Thur 12th Jan 2023 20:00 GMT
Potters appointment shows the powers of the media How so many people actually though a guy with a 31% career win rate deserved a top job after his Brighton team scored 42 goals last season and he finished in the top half for the first time 3 points ahead of 12th place palace with a new manager in his first ever season is crazy Potter will never be good enough, he's the new Hodgson, not as good as Nuno or Moyes Feels like a win would set us back more, sort of Like when United had Ole and he won just enough to limp on but they knew they'd never compete with him Potter should have never been hired.

Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager
Potter out. People pretending Boehly is building for the future with this 31% career win rate absolute turkey of a manager is kidding themselves and needs to take a look at our transfer Policy. Auba, Sterling and Koubliably on big money contracts as well as a £11m 6 month loan with no option to buy is not the pinnacle of long term planning. The whole idea that we're focusing on the long term is pure Copium by people refusing to accept how quickly we've buggered up the club in the short term since Boehly came in. His Yes man manager being the prime example of it.
