I think Henderson will also get game time. He's not useless. He's a solid reliable 6/10 player who you could bring on with 10 minutes to go to see out a game.
And he will work hard in training, he will lift everyone else, he will lead by example.

It's just two good pros around the training ground who can play on the odd occasion they are needed. For a squad that would definitely benefit from it
Think people getting too worked up about this.

I don’t think it’s as bad as people are saying.
He can do the ‘England role’ here. Maybe get minutes in cup matches against lower league teams but apart from that, he can spend the rest of his time doing what he’s known for. Keeping the training standards high and motivate his team mates.
I’m not excited about signing Henderson purely as a footballer but I like the change in direction we’re going. We’re going for leadership and experience.
No more of the silly red cards and disciplinary issues.
It’s time to be a proper team, at last.

If the gaffer wants him, I have to trust him.

Just keep him away from the advertising boards, ffs.

Absolutely fine with this if he is cheap and a squad signing.

13 Premier League goals and quite a few from the bench is an ideal backup for Joao Pedro. Im okay with this and gives me a bit more hope seeing Welbeck warming up to help change a game rather than Delap. Probably the Xhaka experience alternative too. Add Stones to the squad and thats a decent amount of old heads.

I would assume he missed about the same number through suspension as well.

Anderson and Tonali have set the market. It is what it is.

Indeed he is. Last summer's transfer business was brilliant but Xhaka has stood out as the most important signing bar none.
It is very fortunate for you but terrible news for us that you've not only finally appointed an outstanding manager but a man who played such a pivotal role in Xhaka's career. If it wasn't the double attraction of Alonso and London I think Xhaka would have been more than content to stay another year or two on Wearside.
However if he is to leave then £20,000,000 is not an unreasonable fee. Conveniently what Chelsea have just pocketed while upgrading from Maresca to Alonso. Xhaka is 33; Thiago Silva was weeks short of his 36th birthday when he signed for Chelsea. I'd presume, with hindsight, few Chelsea supporters would think £20,000,000 wouldn't have been a bargain for him.
I believe 2026-7 will be a very enjoyable and memorable one for Chelsea providing Alonso is given the signings he wants. Looking from afar I'd think a top striker would be near the top of his list. But right at the top and the foundation of your side for next season is Granit Xhaka. There isn't a single Sunderland supporter who won't be sorry to lose him whatever the fee. But if he's to go then I hope at least that your ridiculously profligate owners aren't going to be parsimonious just when the player in question will be worth a lot more than a third of a Mudryk.
