  1. So I'm a bit of a "pretentious c**t"? That's not nice. True, but not nice...
  2. I feel no different... Heh. You scored 42 out of a possible 60 Close but no cigar – YOU'RE A BIT OF A HIPSTER! You love a bit of tactical talk and wear your 1991-92 St Pauli away shirt with pride, but deep down there's part of you who prefers a cavorting mess of a 4-3 to a well-disciplined 0-0. You heathen, you. Still, you're well on your way to zen-like hipsterdom
  3. Flamini has been very good for Arsenal and he's obviously one reason why Arsenal are playing the way they are. I won't debate with you on players carrying on their good form because they clearly are. Giroud, Ramsey, and Rosicky have also been on good form to the start of the season, especially Ramsey. What I see is the missing piece, if you will, that could propel them to the next level. That player is Özil. And as you say, he seems to be so much more happy and motivated. In all of my time watching Germany I don't believe I've seen him hustle like that to make a header. He's excelling in that system and feeding off the quality that is already there. That's what you want your stars to do. So yes, I feel his arrival is the big difference to how well they've started the season. Still, it is early and other teams will adjust. This is the EPL. This is a marathon of many quality teams. I do wonder how Arsenal will fare as the season goes on.
  4. Arsenal are a lot better than they were, and that is because of Özil. It's really that plain and simple. They had a well enough squad, and he makes them a whole lot better. To say it's between them and Citeh though is way too premature. There is a lot of time left and, as we know all too well, there can be those "bad moments" that will bring their hopes crashing back to the ground.
  5. It's still relatively early, but I think United are in serious trouble for making one of the CL spots. As a matter of fact, I'll go one further to say they may be in jeopardy of getting high enough for the Europa. I think you're right Castiel. I believe he's losing the dressing room as well. He started to lose it early and the run of results isn't helping matters any. Another few matches of lost points and Moyes may lose the dressing room completely. Right now, I don't see United finishing above sixth. Today I think Tottenham, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and of course us, are all better. At this stage, I'd even put Everton in the group to finish above Manu. It's not looking good for them at all. I understand it's the EPL and anyone can beat anyone but this recent run were fixtures that Manu should have gotten maximum points from. They certainly have enough quality. They haven't and with how other teams are doing, they are in real trouble for becoming more of a mess than they already are.
  6. What in the?? Oh God I hope that's not an American or I may have to make a visit somewhere to slap someone. Please tell me that was a joke of some sorts.
  7. To be fair, it did take West Ham 65 minutes to break down the Spuds. Then the floodgates opened. Ah, joy. Shame Arsenal clawed one back, would have been a perfect afternoon/evening of football.
  8. Interesting read... http://worldsport.blogs.cnn.com/2013/10/02/fifas-folly-whats-riding-on-the-qatar-question/?hpt=hp_c4 I find it hard to believe that the "question" still exists. If Qatar cannot support a summer 2022 World Cup, then it should be moved to a country that can. When you add the controversy of the slave labour, it just doesn't bode well for Qatar, FIFA, the players, or the fans. If FIFA wants to save face, then the 2022 World Cup should be hosted elsewhere.
  9. Chances are, I'll be living in the section next to yours.
  10. I cannot deny that Arsenal look pretty good, the signing of Özil could be the best of the season (still early, I know). If you look at their schedule, I'd say they've had a relatively easy start of the season. The only match where they should have possibly lost points is Tottenham at home. They won, but lost points at Villa, meaning an overall wash. In theory they should be right around that amount of points after their first six fixtures and that is where they are. When you look at ours, we've had to go to Manu, Tottenham, and Everton in the first six matches. While I was hoping for more points than what we've gotten, some of our harder fixtures are out of the way. We still have to win where we should but I would say that our first six matches were easily much harder than Arsenal. Being behind them in the standings at this moment is not a big surprise. With that said, I'm not worried about them yet. However, they are much improved with just one player and that makes the race for the top spots all the tighter.
  11. Shame you weren't in chat, I know you were going crazy when that he scored (or when you found out).
  12. Good point, completely agree. At no point in the movie did I feel that Dredd could "get it". Add all of this up and now you know why I gate it a rating of "Awful".
  13. That's fair. I never read any of the comics so all I had for a basis was the original and this movie itself. Now, I wasn't a stout fan of the original, but I expected a lot more from this remake. Maybe that was the whole issue... Urban is not a bad actor by any means (I think he's great as the new McCoy on the Star Trek reboot) and he was more of that cavalier style character in this movie like you were saying Dredd is in the comics. I feel that he wasn't the issue with the movie. I never thought to myself that they picked the wrong actor for Dredd, and was more of the rogue freelance type than Stallone's portrayal of Dredd. What I couldn't grab onto was the entire concept of the film itself. The whole drug "slow down" effect was corny and destroyed the flow of the movie. I agree that being in one location just made the movie very underwhelming. Plus, I wasn't thrilled about the whole psychic aspect. It, again, made things a little more corny than they needed to be. It could have been a lot more. It wasn't and it's unfortunate. It's one of the few movies that my wife has fallen asleep to... This and the original Tron. I know this may be wrong to say, but I feel the Robocop reboot may suffer the same fate.
  14. I just watched the recent remake of Dredd with Karl Urban. Awful. And that's all I'm saying about it.
  15. 8 years without a trophy? Obviously this is a mercy destruction. And people thought our Roman was just ruthless, this shows he has a kind heart to others!
  16. Why did Atkinson not play advantage for Sunderland? Arsenal got away with one...
  17. Özil with a nice first touch and assist to Giroud. Then one of the commentators called him "Oh-zilla" (albeit by mistake). I about hurled.
  18. Özil is really that darn good. It's hard to compare players and what they do for their respective teams, but there is no doubt that Özil is one of the most creative AMs in the world at the moment. I was hoping he would join us before the move to RM and I would have enjoyed seeing him come here. Özil has always had talent but I also believe it was our very own Jose that helped mold him into one of the best. It's going to be interesting to see how he fits in with Wenger. Make no mistake, Özil's arrival makes Arsenal a lot better than they were. He will have an instant understanding with Podolski because of their time together on the International front. If he forms a partnership with Giroud, it could be trouble for all of the teams gunning (no pun intended) for the top 4. And if Jose says that Mesut is one of the best, I would just believe it. It's good to have him in the Prem, I just wish it was playing for us than against us.
  19. Hello Brandon and welcome!
  20. I don't think we're going to see Willian and Eto'o in the same lineup for this one. Neither have played for us yet and I don't believe Jose will want two fresh faces in the lineup knowing that Everton has given us problems in the past... --------------------- Cech -------------------- Ivanovic ----- Luiz ----- Terry ----- Cole ---------- Ramires ------ Lampard -------- -- Schürrle ------ Mata -------- Hazard -- -------------------- Eto'o ---------------------
  21. They were. Just shows you how much the fans wanted Özil to stay at RM... Or how much they were mediocre on Bale (or both). In a roundabout way, Arsenal fans can thank Spurs for the transfer. I don't think RM allows Özil to leave without signing Bale.
