Lukaku to Everton
spot on, He has starter ONE match in the EPL in on 13/05/12 He has also played THREE matches in the League Cup back in 2011. If you look at Sturridge he had under 5 matches for us playing as a striker - despite his time Bolton

He also might enjoy winning trophies

Lukaku to Everton
We should not write him off but we also should not assume he can play as a striker unless he is given a run in such a position for a few matches and see how he does.

Lukaku to Everton
Wait, that's surely incorrect We've always had three strikers - it's just that the 3rd option is rarely used and usually one option is able to play multiple positions. Until I see Schurrle being used up top for a few games I might agree with you but right now I don't think Jose will test him there again. Yep I hope that's the case - or purchase some other experienced striker who is free for one year, just to provide an option.

Can't help but think we are responsible for the Scouse revival
Well this thread about Scouse revival, if we win all our remaining matches we'd be ahead of them either Champions or second place. If Liverpool win their remaining matches they'd be Champions If City win their remaining matches they'd be Champions I actually think all of the teams won't win the remaining matches and it will be a matter of who f**ks up the least

We still need a 3rd striker in case someone gets a long term injury

Lukaku to Everton
I believe he really wanted to play regularly this season because of the World Cup, the thing is like I've said if we play the majority of matches with the first choice striker we sign in the summer I can't see Lukaku staying put for much more than a single season. Specially if he finds himself in a situation where he is on the bench for a lot of matches but only comes on for 10-20 minutes.

Eto'o - The African King
Pep has a history with falling out with Big Ego strikers, he fell out with Zlatan and Eto'o in the space of an year - I believe that by next season we will see some serious rifts in Bayern as well.

Can't help but think we are responsible for the Scouse revival
Yep and it's a bit of a revision that he never demanded to be played up top - you cannot find a single quote from him saying such a thing. It was always the typical trope of "happy to play wherever the manager decides", "just happy to be playing regularly etc" Last season he was on the bench for 14 EPL matches didn't start a single one ahead of Torres. I don't think he would have had a problem signing an extension if he was used at least a bit, but he had like two starts for half an year against United in the Piss Cup due to Torres being banned and against West Brom where he started the match on the wing. Than the RdM was sacked and he was back to square one with a new FSW; who also was in some ways brought in to help Torres re-energize. You can't really expect Young players to be happy with so little first team football, in fact I think what he did was the best move for him personally - what would Matic be if he was kept and just given the odd appearance; certainly would not be the beast he is right now. Anyhow I don't really care who wins the League if it's not us; it's in our hands win all our matches and we are either Champions or second place ahead of Liverpool.

Lukaku to Everton
It's the same thing I've said, Lukaku already has Sturridge's blueprint with the exception of being unable to play on the wing. The thing is that I feel he would be awesome as an impact sub and second striker but it's up to our manager to convince him to take this role and challenge the big name striker we end up signing in the summer. The thing that worries me is that it doesn't appear that Jose and Lukaku are best buds or anything. I can understand Jose not wanting to provide any clarification to a teenager but Lukaku has been at Chelsea for 3 years(2 years out on loan; one year watching from the sidelines and wasted his time). If we buy a big name striker there is a very good chance if he plays well for him to play around 90% of League Matches and most important Cup/European Matches - and Lukaku or whoever is second fiddle will likely leave after a season on the sidelines. Anyway I can't fault Lukaku for wanting to be a first choice player in a club challenging for CL Football - I believe he is already good enough for such a team, but obviously there are a few years of improvement needed to be first choice striker for a team of our stature and it's unlikely we'll ever really develop him by giving him steady appearances which is needed for him to improve.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
I've said he would have no place in the squad if we sign a big money striker and bring back Lukaku. There is no sense in Fernando Torres as a third choice striker. Reasoning - tell me what role you think Torres is going to play next season? Third choice - Ba role on 175k p/w - that is surely the better idea than you know getting him to take a pay cut so he doesn't have to be Malouded. If he is still here next season it's likely because he values his wage more than his playing time - if that's indeed the case I don't see why we would give him any chances ahead of Bamford or Feruz
-
Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
I suppose you have not heard the numerous interviews our manager has had about the striker situation... But I guess that's too much to ask for
-
Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
I know our manager doesn't rate him; I know our manager will sign a striker in the summer 3 17 22 26 31 32
-
Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
If Torres is still here after the summer it would mean that he wasn't willing to take a pay cut to play regularly - I personally doubt that he would stay knowing that next season he would get even less playing time than this season. If he does indeed stay I don't see the point of him in the squad, I'd be more happy with Bamford getting the odd game rather than him.
-
Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Yes I'm sure the next big money striker will take a few seasons to score 19 goals in the Premier League - you're having a laugh really. Seriously if we sign a striker and he doesn't manage at least double digits in the League by his second season - it's fair go to create a thread like this one. But don't worry - since I very much doubt any big money striker will "perform" to a level similar to Fernando - he is very special in terms of goal scoring and I doubt anyone would have though he would be this much trouble before we signed him. If he doesn't want leave and we have a new big money striker and Lukaku there is simply no place in the squad for him.

Next season if he is still here he should be Malouded Too much of a distraction keeping him in the first team, let him train with the reserves

Other than us and City - I think only West Ham and Norwich have chances to take points off Liverpool till the end of the season.

I like his anticipation after he played Kevin out wide. No doubt Everton missed him during his injury - seems fully fit now
