Watching the press conference. He's growing on me. I will never feel comfortable or be happy with him as our manager, but I'm starting to become ok with him being here for the rest of the season.

This decision baffles me. I respect Benitez's intelligence and ability as a manager, but on my list of people I want managing Chelsea he's somewhere between Alex McLeish and Neil Warnock. I just can't get my head around Roman firing a club legend after a (fairly short) poor run of form when we're in a decent position only to replace him with someone that the fans hate and have been very vocal about hating. You just know that he hopes to do well enough to be offered the job on a full-time basis. I don't care if he wins us a treble, I will never want him linked to my club. The strange thing is, when I think about him, just him, I don't even dislike him. Just don't want him at my club. f**k off Benitez.

Most of them will tell you they don't want him. Jealousy is so funny. I fully agree with Just. I'm very grateful to Roman for what he's done for us, but we as fans are the heart and soul of the club, and with FFP coming in, it will be our tickets, shirts, mugs and scarves that pay for the players, so we have a right to be heard. Looking at this thread, I keep seeing people say that RDM gambled and it didn't pay off. Which bits of his gamble cost us? Torres wouldn't have done any better than Hazard as a striker, and Azpilicueta performed his role quite well. Not saying that RDM shouldn't be questioned (Juventus and Shakhtar both taught us a lesson in attacking movement with how they dragged our defenders around), but the formation isn't what needs to be questioned, it's the general way the team is set up/plays. Formation was the same, he just put players in different positions. I've gotta say it made sense. Last time, we had trouble with 2 defenders vs 2 forwards, especially with nobody to pick up runs from midfield from Vidal + Marchisio. To fix this, Ivanovic was playing very narrow, essentially as a CB when we were defending, so Azpilicueta needed to track Asamoah. It was a good choice. Would have liked us to go out and take the game to Juve, try to dominate possession etc, but considering our run of form I can't blame RDM for the choice he made. Ah well, we already have a CL, lets go win the EL.

How many times did he do that yesterday? How many times has he done that this season? I don't understand how people can call him average, he was our best player along with Mata for half of last season and yesterday his link up play and movement were fantastic. He's a centre forward, he's not supposed to dive into challenges/whatever you class as "getting stuck in" - how often do you see Aguero do that? I don't get the putting team before himself thing either; it's a team game, what benefits him benefits the team and vice versa, the only exception I can think of is getting a red for a last man challenge at the end of a game, a situation he doesn't find himself in very often. There have also been plenty of times he's put someone else through instead of shooting...

I don't get the attitude of some of our fans towards Sturridge. Last season he was selfish. He was playing an inside forward role and felt that his main aim was to score, and made horrendously bad decisions over and over. He deserved the stick he got for it, and he didn't get much play time at all after RDM came in. He's been far less selfish this season and when I see people berating his performance yesterday for selfishness I'm baffled. He made 35/41 passes yesterday, more than Moses (27/31) and Torres (15/20). The only player to make more passes in the attacking 1/3 yesterday was Hazard. He took on a silly shot early on before everyone had settled, but after that I don't think he was selfish at all. He could have passed his last chance to Mata, but those are the type of chances you expect your CF to take rather than passing. I know if it were Torres in his shoes and he'd passed, some of us would be questioning why he didn't shoot and saying that the Torres of old would have. How many people would have questioned Didier had he done the same thing? I don't think his finishing was as bad as is being made out either. The first chance was in a crowded box with legs everywhere, he did well to even get a shot off, imo. The one-on-one he could have done better with, but equally the save from Myhill was fantastic. The last one he should have done better with. Overall, he could have done better, but his finishing wasn't as diabolical as some will have you believe. I dread to think what would happen to young Lukaku if he played in front of our fans. 1. I've explained above why I think Sturridge wasn't selfish at all yesterday. 2. Drogba got booed for diving, he stopped it and the fans took to him. Sturridge got booed for being selfish last season, but yesterday he wasn't selfish, played well for the team and actually created some good chances for his team-mates. 3. He missed a few chances against Utd, that doesn't mean he deserves to be booed. His celebration was just a silly little celebration, I don't see that as a reason to boo or hate him. 4. City didn't want to get rid of him, Mancini was actually ruing the fact that they lost him when they came to the Bridge last season. 5. In terms of working for the team - he made 2 interceptions, only Mikel (4) made more and generally tracked back (for the first goal he was on the wing tracking back, he might suck defensively but he was back trying to help out) I think he is, and I think if he is given the chance to prove himself before January, he will surprise quite a few people. He's young and has plenty of potential, he's technically fantastic (at one point yesterday he played a 30 yard pass from just outside the box on the left to Moses, open inside the box on the right) and with some regular playing time he can show everyone that his finishing is better than you think. I don't understand why so many people hate him, I think he's a great young player with bags of potential. Will be sad if he leaves.

Was watching Chelsea v Spuds 07/08 on ESPN Classic and he looked fantastic, what a shame :(

I guess AVB really helped him to develop and feel at home, being able to speak Portuguese and all.

Not sure why AVB is getting stick, he's been classy in all the pre-match buildup (and we all know that the media would have loved some delicious quote of him calling JT racist) and was then very complimentary about us after the game too. I've got a lot of respect for the man, even if him managing us didn't work out.

"In form" suggests he's been playing better recently. I don't watch La Liga either but it's just not true.
