Hi guys , just joined although have been visiting and reading the forum for a while. Here's my tuppence worth for what its worth!
I'm always saddened when someone is sacked particularly when CFC are involved. I will be slagged for months on the back of this , rubbish club , no class , no history blah blah. I think it was the right decision to let him go. I'm sure when this project was first dreamed up part of it did not involve us finishing outside the top 4. Now not having access to the behind the scenes goings on , I can only guess what was really happening. I don't believe papers , and the media in general because they are always after a juicy story , and the saying never let the truth get in the way of a good story is always in my head , and never truer when Chelsea are involved.
Part of being a manager in any business is the ability to evaluate , then build and add as you see necessary. I'm not going to start attacking signings , tactics , team line ups because we all have our own views on them , but the ability to man manage your existing team is a managers job and I get the distinct impression these skills were lacking. I mean were Alex and Anelka really made to train alone or with the reserves ? Is this a good example to have your team see of your man management ?
I'm not saying that he had full backing at the end , but this was surely not the case when he first came in. I'm not that happy with the inference that Lampard , Terry , Drogba , Cole etc had so much of an influence on club issues , that they are culpable in his sacking. yes they are senior players with I'm sure a lot of sway in the club , but I don't believe any team member has such influence over the club board. But here is another point , if these guys have so much power , why didn't AVB get them on board early and use this to his advantage.
I wish him the best of luck , but I'm not sad to see the back of him.
