  1. I'd put 100 quid on Torres starting against United for us tomorrow. No way he isn't.
  2. If u compare Torres now to the Torres that first signed, there is a VAST improvement. He's getting the ball into dangerous areas, winning tackles, creating chances and scoring goals, and doing some or all of those things nearly every game. I don't see what the problem is. Quality never goes away.
  3. I know one thing, we can't take our foot off the gas even winning 3-0 after what happened last season...
  4. Yeah United seem to think it's something they can exploit. FFS they don't have a clue. I think they'll score but see us winning. 3-2 to us.
  5. I think the conversation Torres had with the board at the end of last season included him stating that he may have to 'reconsider his future at Chelsea' if we weren't willing to make him our main man. That's what his quotes after the CL final implied anyway.
  6. United players saying they can 'exploit' our 'transition' on Sunday. Erm...what?? We had one bad game u muppets. Talk about divs. Pretty sure we'll come back fighting this weekend. Especially to take points off that lot.
  7. This is a bit of a knee jerk reaction. Yes we were rubbish last night but it was our first loss this season, the Super Cup aside. I reckon we'll be ok, we can win the two home games.
  8. I think a lot of Evertonians would prefer to see Liverpool lose a major cup final than see their own team win one, the same goes for City fans with United. Probably Celtic and Rangers too. I only really hate United and Spurs.
  9. The fact RDM will start Torres shouldn't be called into question. He's started him every game this season. Torres is our primary striker, and this game is a lot more difficult than a lot of people would think. Torres links up well with Oscar, Mata and Hazard and i see no reason why RDM wouldn't choose that forward/midfield formation for this game.
  10. The way United have played for large portions of the past two seasons, most of the bigger teams in the EPL really should be beating them. I honestly can't figure out what it is with them but i know most United supporters can go and watch their team play safe in the knowledge that even if they're shoite, they will probably still win. City have started pulling a United the past year though grabbing injury time winners etc. And i suppose cos we finished 6th last season we have to be considered outsiders. 6th to 1st would be a huge jump to make, despite the fact we added Hazard and Oscar recently. We'd be playing Europa League football had we not won the CL, we have to remember that. But i'm optimistic, i really am. We're looking good.
  11. Are u being serious when u say, OP, that u don't think City are a threat? City have ridiculous funds, a world class squad, a strong bench and experienced players. They are the English champions having managed to claw back an 8 point deficit on United last season. They fought back from being a goal down to winning yesterday playing with ten men almost the whole game. Of course they are a massive threat. But United, despite the fact they're average and have been for two years, will always be up there cos they just know how to win. I think we are capable of winning the league if we can keep our best players fit, but both United AND City are a big threat. Arsenal and Spurs aren't strong enough, and Liverpool will have done very well if they finish in the top 6.
  12. A world class striker who buried chance after chance and terrified the opposition players and supporters. The sad thing is, that's exactly what Torres WAS at Liverpool.
  13. He's vastly improved since he first signed. Just needs to sort his overthinking out. He'll get 15+ goals this season.
  14. Oh i agree! I couldn't believe we went 2-1 down and then we looked all over the place for a bit. Relieved we got it together and got the win. Deserved.
  15. But we need two more goals early in the second half.
  16. That is what irritates me about United though. They've been garbage for three seasons now and yet they still either win the title or finish second. Play well and win. Play c**p and win. Wish we could do that but we more often than not need to be at our most ruthless to get the win.
  17. I think we stand a really good chance if we're around the top in January and perhaps buy another striker. In my opinion our squad is one of the strongest in the league.
  18. Who do u think will be our biggest threat to our title hopes this season? Why do u think so? Thoughts please.
  19. I dunno who the f*** Spurs fans think they are but they are not even a big club. They had one season in the CL and were even rubbish at that. The phrase 'too big for ur boots' springs to mind.
  20. I suppose drawing United early in the league cup is better than drawing them early in the CL.
  21. Agreed that 4-4-2 doesn't seem to work for us, but i say give Falcao and Torres a try as a strike partnership and see how it goes. Just my two cents.
  22. Why would Torres have to be sold? Would it not be a good idea to have two class strikers upfront, should we not be where we want to be in January? Especially if Sturridge goes elsewhere.
  23. I agree that we would benefit from buying Falcao far more than City would. I think City just buy strikers for the sake of buying strikers, they have plenty more options upfront than we do. We could also appeal the fact that we won the CL last season and are currently the league leaders? (agreed we might not be by January). I reckon Chelsea are a better proposition than City are.
