  1. I'm still chuffed I got to watch us win the FA Cup in 1997. Thought that was as good as it was going to get at the time!
  2. With "Three" looking to withdraw sponsorship on the Chelsea shirt, what should the club do for the rest of the season? 1. No sponsor? Barcelona went for years without a sponsor on their shirt as a policy. Money eventually changed their thinking. 2. A Charity? Could be one that the club is currently linked to, or something new. 3. Anti-War? Could go for something in relation to the current war to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
  3. Going to need thick skins for the next year or so folks. As well as the usual rags putting out stories, we can expect record breaking levels of abuse from other fans. I say what will be will be, and even if we somehow ended up at the bottom of the football pyramid as punishment, then so be it. We've already won every major trophy out there and I could quite enjoy seeing us work our way up and win every lower league trophy along the way to add to the collection. If we get a quick buyer or if we need to start from the bottom, nothing will stop me supporting the club.
  4. If things get messy financially, I wonder how it would affect the Chelsea Pitch Owners?
  5. I just read a 9 points deduction is possible if we hit certain financial problems.
  6. I wonder if the club could be sold and the funds go into a frozen account? Any legal experts out there? Also, what of the plan to give all the money to charity? It's a mess that's for sure. On the positive side, we tend to win the Champions League in the years when there's chaos, but this is next level!
  7. Don't see any scheduled dates for the 2022 Club World Cup, and there's talk of the next one being an extended 24 team version in 2023. I would assume that means we get to be World Champions and wear the gold badge for 2 years! 😆 2 years of us singing about World Champions! Other clubs fans will love it I'm sure...
  8. Well chuffed! I can finally put to rest the demons from that night in Yokohama in 2012 against Corinthians.
  9. Now that Tuchel and Mendy are back, feeling a bit more confident about this.
  10. Not great, but we're there. Whether it was the conditions, motivation, missing the boss or a combination of all three is open to debate. If we were going to have a bad match, this was the one to have it. Anyway, massive game in the club's history this Saturday!
  11. Palmerias looked pretty good. Also, having been in the competition last year and failing to even make the final, they have the bit between their teeth. First things first though, we've got to beat the Asian Champions Al Hilal who also look pretty serious about trying to win this.
  12. First game of the competition kicks off today. 16:30 Al Jazira (Hosts Champions) vs Pirae (Oceania). Something to have on in the background if you're working from home.
  13. I'd say the idea is to make money! I've been a few times here in Japan, and the match programme alone cost 20-25 quid!!
  14. I wish English FA would bid to host it. That would get crowds to the games as well. Also, get a look at one of our potential opponents as it's the CONCACAF Champions League final tomorrow (early doors for those of you in the UK at 03:00am !). https://www.livesoccertv.com/match/4156162/monterrey-vs-america/ https://www.concacaf.com/en/champions-league/
  15. It's confirmed as early 2022 in Dubai. February is the likely month.
  16. ESPN claim it's being moved to February. Depending on how things pan out with the other cups, could be better for us. Potential hosts: - Qatar - South Africa - Saudi https://www.espn.in/football/fifa-club-world-cup/story/4488688/fifa-club-world-cup-south-africa-to-rival-qataruae-as-potential-hosts-sources
  17. Sad to see Reece James had his Champions League and Euro 2020 medals stolen from his house.
  18. South Africa is in the running to host it: https://www.thesouthafrican.com/sport/fifa-club-world-cup-south-africa-hoping-to-host-chelsea-al-ahly-in-december-japan-who-is-hosting-latest/
  19. Qatar seems the obvious choice at first, but then I read they're holding the Arab Cup from 30 November – 18 December 2021, so only way they can hold it is to delay the Club World Cup until next year some time. If it has to be held in December, here's a list of the other countries that originally bid against Japan. Take your pick! Saudi Arabia Russia Egypt Thailand Argentina
  20. Yeah it's been held in Japan as a one off game between European and South American champs since 1980 and ran like that for 25 years, For 20 years before that was home and away legs when it started back in 1960. To be honest whether it's USA, SW6 or even Qatar (which I hope it's not), I don't mind as long as we win it this time. I'm still gutted we lost it in 2012.
  21. There's still a very slim chance it could get delayed and still be played in Japan. But if no full capacity stadiums allowed (as would be the case in December) the Japanese FA can't afford it as unlike Qatar, they are a real football Association and have to make ends meet.
  22. Seems that FIFA and the Japanese government can't reach an agreement on fans flying in due to Covid. https://www.si.com/soccer/chelsea/news/report-chelsea-set-to-play-2021-club-world-cup-away-from-japan-qatar-linked-as-possible-venue Qatar being considered as last minute replacement.
  23. Seems the trip to Japan is no more. ☹️ Qatar being likely replacement. https://www.si.com/soccer/chelsea/news/report-chelsea-set-to-play-2021-club-world-cup-away-from-japan-qatar-linked-as-possible-venue
  24. Unlikely to knock them out, but that would depend how they do against the other teams in the group.
