Club World Cup - December 2021 -Moved from Japan to Qatar?

Featured Replies

Oh please God - anyone’s God - anywhere but Qatar. If it wasn’t that next year’s World Cup was awarded by Blatter & Co to a nation with one of worst human rights records on the entire planet, that countless slave labourers have died in the fabrication of brand new stadia  for said World Cup -  because the nation of Qatar had zero history as a footballing nation. Never mind the massive inconvenience of playing this accursed World Cup in the f**king winter, disrupting the league seasons of a fair sized proportion of the civilised world, now they - they being f**king FIFA of course - are considering using one of these damned slave labour built stadia for the Club World Cup.

I’ve long decided not to have anything to do with the Qatar World Cup, and if Qatar does indeed turn out to be the venue for the Club World Cup, then I’m going to have to boycott that as well, and if we happen to win the thing in Qatar, then it will be a trophy that will forever be tainted by association,

There's still a very slim chance it could get delayed and still be played in Japan.

But if no full capacity stadiums allowed (as would be the case in December) the Japanese FA can't afford it as unlike Qatar, they are a real football Association and have to make ends meet.

Play it in a green list European country. It is a "World cup" no? Why is it always in the middle east or Asia?

Traditionally it has been in Japan where the best clubs of the continents meet though... This Qatar thing is a huge scam.

Yeah it's been held in Japan as a one off game between European and South American champs since 1980 and ran like that for 25 years, For 20 years before that was home and away legs when it started back in 1960.

To be honest whether it's USA, SW6 or even Qatar (which I hope it's not), I don't mind as long as we win it this time. I'm still gutted we lost it in 2012.

Qatar seems the obvious choice at first, but then I read they're holding the Arab Cup from 30 November – 18 December 2021, so only way they can hold it is to delay the Club World Cup until next year some time.

If it has to be held in December, here's a list of the other countries that originally bid against Japan. Take your pick!

 Saudi Arabia
 Russia
 Egypt
 Thailand
 Argentina

Why it's made for FIFA!

Damn I was hoping for Afghanistan - I thought the new regime would be right up there…

ESPN claim it's being moved to February. Depending on how things pan out with the other cups, could be better for us. Potential hosts:

- Qatar

- South Africa

- Saudi

So long as Mendy is back by then.

It's confirmed as early 2022 in Dubai. February is the likely month.

Oh joy, what an appalling choice of venue. Well works out for Fifa to line their pockets.

It's frustrating to me that the Olympics and the World Cup are starting to go to nations with terrible human rights records.

This is a much smaller event than those but it adds to the problem.

Part of me honestly wonders if I should watch these events because quite frankly I feel like by watching I'm helping their governments oppress people.

Club should refuse to go, as should England to the world cup.

It would only work if a bunch of the major sporting nations all got together and refused.

USA decided to unilaterally boycott the Olympics in the USSR in 1980 and it pretty much did nothing but screw over a bunch of athletes who worked hard for years for it.

People in charge of these events FIFA and the Olympic committee need to be taken over by people with principles.  I don't know how you do that.

Why can't they just hold it in an iconic stadium? Those are littered across Europe but nooo, it just has to be some random stadium in the middle of the desert
