Ramires and the CB'S start that long ball sh*t again... They've got Lampard in front of them and Hazard, Mata, Marin in front of that... What more could you wish for? Edit: And Torres starts to actively defend for the opposing team...

Let's just hope he manages to wake up Torres.

Not even that, but getting in a shot at the goal when being set up nicely should be doable, even for him...

Kevin De Bruyne
Match performance today: You know.. one of those games where it's hard to rate a player. On the one hand he wasn't as good as he was on other times, quite a few bad passes. I'd say he was solid most of the time. But on the other hand he had 1 assist and made the 4:1. (That goal was quite nice to look at, if you have the time and find it on youtube or sth.) All in all it was solid-good, but could've been better.

Raise morale? That sounds more like a threat to me...

Tbh if I were a restaurant manager I'd be afraid he'd eat half of the food before it reaches the tables...

I don't get Benitez... why is he not bringing in new players?

Kevin De Bruyne
There isn't too much to say about Kevin's match yesterday, but I want to keep the weekly thing going, so: Kevin played very solid yesterday but a little bit more defensively I'd say than usually. So he was very important in the center just distributing the ball, a task he fulfilled very good in my oppinion. In direct tackles he was a tad bit weaker than usual, but in the end this didn't turn out to be bad, because quite frankly our opposition was just bad yesterday.

Does he know he is allowed to put 3 new players in? Just asking...

Ok, so no real playtime for Marin today probably. Oh well...

Kevin De Bruyne
This. But he also has kind of a high ratio of bad passes sometimes. So I think this year in a stronger league will be really good for him, if it teaches him when and when not to try a high risk, high reward pass. But yeah, usually when the rest of the team does not perform horrible ( = he has people to play with) he sticks out.

Kevin De Bruyne
Ok, here it goes. We (Werder) lost yesterday vs. our arch nemesis, Hamburg. 3:2 (Match was in Hamburg) Our Trainer / Manager (Thomas Schaaf)tried a different formation than usually which ended up putting KdB on the left wing. A position in which he doesn't play as good as he does in the center, we've seen that in previous games. But it seems Schaaf thought this was necessary. As the few times he played there before Kevin was much less active. Not one of his better games, he didn't prepare as many goal opportunities as usually and in general couldn't bring his skill into play. Also it seems to me he didn't run as much as he normally does. He had the opportunity to equalize for us, but it was a kind of different ball. A cross came in and bounced off the ground so it was slighlty above waist height I'd say when Kevin could reach it. He decided to try and lean down to head it in, but the ball flew above the goal. This was roughly 4-6 meters from the Hamburg goal. :-/ Also I should add that one goal by Hamburg was highly irregular (the player used his arm to take the ball with him), the third goal was slightly off-side, but I don't think the linesman is at fault here, it was really hard to see. So, that was my little KdB report. Hopefully he will play in his normal position next game. (Also we lost our right winger (Marko Arnautovic) for the next match, 2x yellow... great... *sigh*)

Brentford v Chelsea (FA Cup) 27/01/13 KO 12:00 GMT
Ok, this didn't go as I had hoped. I hoped the Chelsea match would sweeten my day, for the match I have to watch now (Werder - Hamburg) will be devastating to me as a Werder supporter once again. ( ) I had hoped to see Chelsea win quite easily with a nice 3-1 or sth like that and good football. Hoped to see Marin and Oscar play a brilliant game. Well at least Oscar did good-ish. But at least you can live with the result. Kinda...

Torres can score goals? Interesting, I did not know that. But great play by Ba before and a great finish.

See my edit, I agree Mata is important and probably the best player. But I just think he wouldn't be needed in this game, vs this opponent, if the other players would've played as actively in the first half.

I think this has nothing to do with Mata. If the players would've played as actively in the first half the game would've looked similar to how it looks now. Edit: btw. this doesn't mean I think that Mata is not important. Just against opponents of this class I'm sure he wouldn't (and maybe shouldn't) be needed.
