Scolari sends scouts to watch Gourcuff

While the article may be B.S. it would certainly be a step in the right direction : going after young talent, hungry for success instead of filling the ranks with established players who are past their prime.

He did little in our first match vs Bordeaux at the Bridge but at the away fixture I thought he looked great. At AC Milan they considered him a natural successor to Kaka but loaned him out to Bordeaux to get more playing time. They've been raving about him in France as the next Zidane for quite some time now.

I wonder now with Kaka staying will Milan be receptive to an approach from us for Gourcuff. They may be happy with Kakas's decision but they still need money to rebuild that aging squad.

P.S. He is also quite handsome fella, so that should sit well with our CSR ladies.

I remember hearing the buzz about him before he went to Milan as well. With plenty of young, creative talent at Milan im sure he didnt get much of a chance to prove himself, and I wouldnt mind taking a shot on him.

I agree, abramovich. Just the kind of player we should be after. Young, creative, clearly his best years are ahead, and since its Milan who owns his rights, im sure they wouldnt be looking a kings ransom for a player that failed in his first jump to a "big" league.

imo, we missed out big on van der Vaart, if we were ever in for him, but Gourcuff could be a player that would fill a similar role for the future. And im sure partnered with guys like Mikel and Essien, he would have a free role to attack

Living near Bordeaux I've been able to watch him regularly on the french equivalent of MOTD and in the qualifiers for the world cup. Flashes of real brilliance but a lack of consistency spoils the overall performance. With a few exceptions the standard of french football is often at championship level, hence Gourcuff has not been tested every week at a high level of requirement. However if Chelsea is really interested now is the time to buy as the price is likely to rise. The talent is there to be developed , Ballack and Deco wil be gone soon( the latter may have already), and younger players alongside Lampard and a returning Essien(we hope) will be needed.

we should definitely try and bring him in although i know arsene wengeris said to be keen on the lad. Milan may be interested in a swap involving Ivanovic although i'd like to keep him.

Just like Joey against ManU. It was 3-0 goal as well. Great goal. Only problem is he is going to cost a fortune I would imagine.

now that is a cracking goal

I thought the goal was impressive, and I dont mean to be picky, but Joe eluded about 3 men while at a dead stop, rather than on the run. That goal was other worldly

anyway, if its talent he has and consistency he lacks barrat says, then we should take a chance. Scolari has been decent this season at getting Anelka to be more consistent, and even Malouda and Kalou have, on the whole, had better years than before.

I agree. Gourcuff would be an excellent buy IMO. Neither Deco or Ballack have much more to give. An Essien, Lampard, Gourcuff midfield is something I'd love to see!

Gourcuff is doing very well at Bordeaux at the min and will leave Milan in the summer if the price is right

He's been tremendous for Bordeaux this season and thanks to him they're favourites to win the French league. I'd be delighted if we could get him.
