What is the management up to?

I strongly dismissed the speculation that Roman is NOT interested in selling Chelsea. Many of the Russian oligarchs are in financial trouble with the high leverage ratios that their corporate empire has taken during the boom years to expand. Gazprom, for example, has a total debt burden of almost 50 billion US dollar.

Nevertheless, I am puzzled over the management recent action. I know Chelsea would not be dipping into the transfer market. Yet we are in a hurry to sell. First, Wayne Bridge, not Cudicini ( probably the best reserve goalkeeper in EPL) on a free transfer when Cech's recent form is fit for only No.1 jersey at Rennes and now, Malouda ( rumoured to be on a loan deal with Juventus). Has Roman fallen so bad that we cannot even afford wages? Granted that I have been one of those who have been calling for Malouda's exit, where is the reinforcement then?

It pisses me that Arshavin is going to Arsenal with a fee agreed upon, but aren't we at least going to do some strengthening at least in attack, where our impotency has seen us lost to Arsenal, Manu & Liverpool, with only Kalou's face saving equaliser at the Bridge saving us from a double against Manure?

If we cannot afford any stars, surely, what about Reading's Kevin Doyle? Or even Leicester's Matt Fryatt? (in jest, of course). What you need is someone who has the confidence of getting the goals throughout this season. Doyle has Premiership experience and Fryatt may struggle stepping up a gear but I think the instinct of a finisher does not change at any level. That's why Ipswich, Swansea or Burnley could give any Premiership cub a run for their money. The difference is that while the best teams can do the right things day in, day out, the lower rung teams only show flashes of brilliance, so they may take 8 efforts to get a goal. But POINT is, we need to strengthen on the back of an indifferent Drogba. ( Just watched his screamer against Everton 1 or 2 season ago... if only he rediscover that form..<sigh>.

If you are looking for a reasonable prospect, it's Belgian international's Moussa Dembele - Belgian's exciting young prospect who excelled during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. At 22, he will be making his mark at the best league soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoLg-Uzio8o...feature=related

Sometimes, I wonder what those scouts are doing. We should be buying low and hopefully, not even selling high if we have a gem. It doesn't take a dumb scout to say Kaka or ronaldinho but there are really very great young prospect plying their trade in the Continent.

I understand your pain but you should realize things are not that black and white. Maybe our scouts have actually seen Dembele and every young player whose name you could name here. They could actually have other sources than youtube to monitor these players :P and I think they have their reasons why not try to lure for example Dembele to Chelsea. Maybe they have tried and failed who knows.

Everybody here in these forums are looking Chelsea to buy a next Messi or Ronaldinho, me including but it is probably not that easy. Would have happened already if it was that easy. Running around with a sack of money in Holland won't give you 3 Ronaldo's.

Although I like Kalou and think he should play more he haven't risen to the level expected of him. Our scouts earmarked him and he was bought. Chelsea probably expected him to be the next Pele, never happened and never will.

I have high hopes on Kakuta and Stoch so I really hope we could see them feature sometime soon.

Loz - re the descriptors underneath our Avs ie 'Untouchable', 'First Team Squad' etc, I feel that Octvilles should be changed and have thought long and hard about what it should be. Most of them are unprintable even with your filth filters so the most polite I could come up with is "Away supporter"

I am sure others will make better suggestions, I am just opening the bidding

PS As I am way past the 1st team squad, can mine be changed to 'old git' 'past it' or something of that ilk?

You can change it yourself to whatever you like. Click My Controls then click Edit Profile Information on the left and just write whatever you want into the Custom member title box. <_<
