I believe pimp slapping, contrary to normal slapping, demonstrates ones authority. For instance, if a man slaps another person, he is made fun of. However, if a man pimp slaps someone, well than he is disciplining someone (generally one of him 'employees'). Also pimp slapping uses the back of the hand.
