Player Ratings/Comments - Burnley (H)

I don't like putting the numbers as I think they're a bit meaningless but as I started the post though I better!

Cech -7 - not a lot to do but claimed and distributed well

Cole - 8 - solid defending, some good moments going forward especially in second half, cracking goal.

Terry - 7 - great in the air, great tackles, some surging runs forward though they do scare me

Carvalho - 7 - superb tackles and recoveries

Bosingwa - 8 - stunning runs and dribbles over and over again - needs to work on his crossing

Essien - 9 - picked up every loose ball, shielded and helped the defense and was also a machine going forward.

Lampard - 7 - maybe being harsh but not his best game but some stunning passes, tackles and moves

Ballack - 9 - Brilliant, strong, smart, outstanding passing

Deco - 7 - some great passing and he seems to have learnt how to tackle and throw himself about - still welt on the ball a few times.

Anelka - 7 - fast, good passing and movement, still needs to improve his first touch and should have put a few of his chances away.

Drogba - 8 - was heavily marked and had no simple chances but set up the first goal and gave Burnley's defence a good bashing. Looked good on the ball.

Kalou - 7 - short appearance but had the ball in the net once offside and another great chance.

Belletti - 7 - solid!

Mikel - wasn't on long enough for a comment or a number! i feel he is being saved for more defensive away games.

Too high a score for Deco (too many poor passes and give-aways) and Essien (his poor shooting drops his score down to a 7, in my view) and Lamps (horrid first half, which has to be factored in even though he had an excellent second half).

There are some very demanding people on here. I thought it was one of the best performances from us for a longtime in terms of quality of passing. We moved the ball swiftly and accurately and it was only some excellent defending and goalkeeping that kept the score down to three. Depending on who you believe we had between 14 and 18 shots on target.

Very true. I also notice people are quick to point out how poor the opposition is when in fact we are probably underestimating how good we really are. You only have to listen to the praise we are getting from other managers (Bruce, Hodgson and Coyle) to realise we are currently on a different planet to others. Here's hoping it lasts.

Too true, like on MOTD yesterday, it showed Ballack's goal and Ashley's goal. Lee Dixon commented on how poor the Burnley defence was, saying our goals were "easy goals". Now that's ridiculous, especially the Ashley goal, that was world class.

Agreed. Ashley Cole's goal was pure class, and Ballack's diving header was pretty out of the ordinary as well.

I think we are playing absolutely brilliantly at the moment, but I don't dare believe it because I thought we looked so good at the beginning of last season, and we all know how that ended. Ancelotti seems to have far more of a clue than Scolari, but I can't help but worry.
