Training Ground

Featured Replies

I was thinking of taking the boy to the training ground during the holidays. I just wanted to ask any of you that know; is there access to the players for photos etc or is it pretty closed doors? Dont want to waste my time going if theres no chance of the boy meeting a few players. :o

Never actually been to Cobham but i think its pretty guarded. Im sure ive spoken to someone before who went and said that all they could do is stand by the entrance and wait for the players to drive in, but the players have been told they cannot stop for photos etc for safety reasons.

I could be wrong though.

Cheers bjd, I had a feeling it might be a bit like that, I might give it a miss.

I did think of giving JT a brown envelope Valerie but I didn't think he'd be impressed with a score!

Are there any videos of the training facility? It seems like area 51 in there.

The closest you'll get is standing out on the road looking a cars with blacked out windows, don't bother.

Its not good - they even move you on if you get too close to the entrance in the side road, most people end up standing on the main road watching the cars wizz by - not worth it!

You could book your son into a football in the community course (if he's under 16) - they are held at the training ground normally in the summer and spring holidays- My son Franco is there all this week - three types of courses one for everyone one for goalies and one for advanced ( which is normally held at the academy with the academy coaches)- £80 for 4-5 days

If your lucky there may be a youth game on on the academy match pitch and you can go early and sit and watch them( especially in pre season) - the senior players often stay to watch and you get to sit with them and have a chat.- last Year Abramovich landed in his helicopter and came with Hiddick to watch the kids train.

The players have been training on the back pitches so far this week so the kids get to see them more than when they are on the front ones

The details are on the website and the next course is on over the May Half Term

Thats your best bet if you want to see the facilities there
