Backbiter Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jul/17/fabio-capello-england-capello-index Interesting reading. I assume you can't score under 50. Average mark given to England's playersRobert Green 51.67 David James 59.28 Glen Johnson 57.18 John Terry 60.48 Ledley King 57.50 Jamie Carragher 59.04 Matthew Upson 60.21 Ashley Cole 59.58 Aaron Lennon 57.64 Frank Lampard 58.58 Steven Gerrard 60.98 James Milner 59.40 Gareth Barry 57.50 Shaun Wright-Phillips 61.09 Joe Cole 55.45 Wayne Rooney 58.87 Emile Heskey 60.15 Jermain Defoe 62.47 Peter Crouch did not play enough minutes to generate a mark. I actually think, with one or two exceptions, the relative ranking isn't that far off. JT - despite the shocker against Germany - was probably the best defender and was MoM v Slovenia, and helped keep clean sheets v Algeria and USA (discounting the Green clanger). Ashley cole was the second best defender. Joe Cole was totally useless, Johnson Lennon and Barry were only marginally less useless, and King was injured from the 3rd minute and could hardly move. I am mystified at Milner getting higher marks than Lamps (he must have had single figures for his showing v USA when he was subbed after 30 mins), and I fail to see how anyone could see any merit whatsoever in the displays of Rooney and SWP. Heskey is rubbish but all managers - not just Capello - have a weird blindspot where he's concerned. And you can't say he played well against the USa where his finishing was as costly to England as Green's goalkeeping. Stevie GBH apparently got 66 - the highest score by any England player - for his display against the USA, so he must have had deservedly crap ratings for his other displays
PloKoon13 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 At the risk of sounding like a broken record... what a f**king prick Capello is.
dkw Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 He really has went from being a manager we in England had great faith in, to a shambles of a manager in the space of about 3 months. What on earth is the thinking behind him doing this?
Hutch Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 At the risk of sounding like a broken record... what a f**king prick Capello is. can't argue with that. and now this: Fabio Capello demands removal of Capello Index England boss Fabio Capello has demanded that player ratings website the Capello Index be removed from the internet. The rankings, which scores players on their performances in this summer's World Cup, appeared online on Saturday. The project was set for launch before the World Cup but, following a media outcry, the project was postponed. "The index ratings has not been seen or approved by Mr Capello [and] were published without his knowledge," said a Football Association statement. Not a single England international appeared in the top 45 players from the tournament. Captain Steven Gerrard was the only member of the squad to be ranked in the top 100 performers of the group stages, coming in at a lowly 65. LINK
Arq Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 The Capello Index is confusing. Maybe he should spend less time with his ratings and a little more time being the manager?
