he's got huge technical and physical qualities, but no brain. no instinct for position, no instinct for self preservation, no instinct for working as a component in a team rather than as an individual who does as he pleases. that final point is why I just cannot understand why conte of all people would want him.
I think on the whole his performances in midfield were overrated, you had to laugh because at the time bashing steven gerrard for haring all over the place and launching passes in all sorts of directions whenever he got the ball was the forum hobby. yet when luiz did exactly the same thing for us in midfield he was hailed as some sort of genius. I guess it was because his mistakes had less immediate, less severe, less tangible consequences and that was the form our collective relief took. no longer was he conceding clear chances by stepping out to win 30/70 challenges in the opponents favour. now he was merely launching the ball out of reach of juan mata, or slowing a one touch move down so he could do a stepover, or vacating his position to dribble down a blind alley. occasionally he'd then belt one in from 30 yards with such incredibly pure technique. and we'd forget about all that other stuff and laugh about gerrard. until he did the same. then we'd say lampard was better. at least we were right about that one...
he is absolutely the opposite of what I would describe as a footballer. when cryuff died all those quotes from him did the rounds. my favourite is:
david luiz is not a good footballer.
 
p.s. he does have a great amount of charisma though, and that isn't to be overlooked. just like drogba he could inspire players around him. and he took one of the greatest penalties against bayern in what was by far his final hour. to play so courageously, through an injury was amazing. but for all of the blocks, self sacrifice and courage, it wasn't a good 'technical' defensive performance from him or cahill, who was equally good. nine times out of ten we'd have lost that game- no-one will look at our defending in that match and commit it to a textbook.

The passion that Conte has, it just makes me smile every time I see it. Obviously puts it all into his club and country. It's exactly what we need after the fractured management of last season.
 
It's early, but the players are buying in and you can see the drive they have. Long may it continue.
 
Definitely a debate could be had for him bringing in subs too late, but I believe late subs were a part of his plan and it worked. I'll take it, no doubt.

Honestly, I'm very excited about him.  NO arrogance, hard work ethic, no BS.  I actually hope he surpasses Jose's status.  And that's not a dig at Jose.

I watched it again last night, I missed so many things watching it live as I was so nervous beforehand, then drunk, then nervous and drunk, then drunk, then gutted and drunk, then happy and drunk, then ecstatic, then ecstatic and drunk. Then I cried, because I was happy. And drunk.

Can't wait to see him rip into the players, and the press alike.  The one thing I've notices in his interviews is there isn't really that "us against the world" mentality that you had with Jose.  He is intense, certainly, but he loves his football and I think he wants his players to share his passion.
 
Laziness and lies will not be tolerated.  Whereas with Jose, it was "all aboard the Jose show!"  I don't think it'll be like that with Conte.
 
This isn't me bashing Jose.  Merely sharing my observations in subtle differences of their persona

I'd be gutted if we let him go, especially for 14m, that's ridiculously low for the quality of full back that he is.

It is indeed mate absolutely adored that series of games! Not sure now that the main character isn't Marcus, I think he really made the series, saying that I'll probably still buy it but it's a bit like killing of MasterChief in Halo (which I'm concerned about on the new game), just doesn't sit right IMO.

I assume that's the Gears of War series? If so, absolutely yes.

My mum took me to see this when it first released. A good memory and a decent enough flick. The sequels ruined it imho, but the original was good.

I was going to watch this just because there isn't much else on. Think I'll just fire up a game or something instead.

If LFC had magic markers, they'd be letting in fewer goals :-)

I completely agree with you, but I can also easily see comments about why should the FBI get involved, blah, blah. I was simply saying that I wasn't going to get into that conversation.
 
Personally, I hope they find something and hammer any corrupt officials.

The FBI being involved means all evidence should be made available, which is a plus. The fact the american author of the report has said the published report by FIFA is nothing like his findings is disgusting, they had an independent person investigate it, took his report and rewrote it to suit their objective. Corrupt as can be.

I'm going to need to get this. I'll probably pick it up while I'm on home leave.

Toure has been bullying our midfield for years.  We just bought a bigger bully.

And despite being involved in more with this club than Mata ever will he probably will receive no more than a good riddance from most.

ESO should be really good. I have a few mates in the Beta and I've heard very little bad about it. Their basic complaint was the combat system but they have told me the devs are actively tweaking things so they have faith.
 
Ramigoal7, have you tried Guild Wars 2? I've finally decided to give it a go and the beginning Charr storyline is pretty good. Granted I don't have much time for a MMO but I bought the game a while back so why not test it out.
 
I can't wait to see Dragon's Age 3. I liked DA:O but didn't like DA2. I'm hoping DA3 is much better. So far, it looks good.

I think he has improved under Jose and although he was woeful tonight I don't think he deserves a rehash of the same old things that have been said about him in this thread by pretty near most of us.
 
He's one of three strikers we have who can all flatter to decieve, I'll be happy enough as long as all three get their chances and we don't watch bad performance after bad performance, I think he was decent at West Ham and has looked sharper on the whole and I can't say my faith in the two alternatives is anything but up and down.
 
I bet hes gutted enough looking at the way Hazard performed and wishing he could have hit some form at the same time, it must be painful knowing what he could do at his best.
