Hi everyone,

I am after 2 tickets for the 18th December 2010 game - Chelsea Vs. Man U.

I am trying to organise a birthday surprise for my partner which includes flights from Sydney to London just for the game!

I was just wondering if anyone could help with tickets - if anyone would like to sell or tell me what the easiest way to confirm tickets before i book the flights?

Thanks in advance :)

The easiest way is buy them like everyone else has to and stop looking for touts!

What is a tout?

I am seriously not sure how the ticketing system works or what to do?

I am being genuinely serious... I am trying to do a nice thing by surprising my partner with a once in a lifetime present...

Chelsea vs Manchester Utd is not a game you should be looking to get tickets for unless you are a season ticket holder or a member with a lot of loyalty points. GIven that you are Sydney based I doubt either of the above apply to you.

The only other way is to pay way over the odds to buy a ticket from someone who is cashing in. That is a practice that is not welcomed on here and that is what Mod is referring to.

I would suggest you choose a different game which is lower profile.

We are an unofficial forum, best get onto Chelsea and ask them at http://www.chelseafc.com

Ok - thanks for your all help, I will give Chelsea FC a call and see if they can help me. :)

One more thing i did look at was the Thomas Cook match breaks on the Chelsea site... Are these any good? They are from the Chelsea FC site...

Yea the best route would be through them, don't get stung by people on the net selling tickets, as there is a 90% chance they have no tickets and just interested in taking your cash. In fact, in this situation, only go through the official Chelsea route, whether it be their matchday packages or via Thomas Cook through them.

We don't have enough seats for all the people wanting to see the games, so chances are, you will just have to take a quieter game than a big one like against Utd.

You could also see whether there's a package where you stay at the Chelsea Hotel, get a tour of the stadium and match tickets

Would agree with the above 100% You may well ending up paying the same price as you would off of a tout, but, get the tickets from an official source, as these packages tend to sell out a lot slower. Plus you have the added benefit of bonus points from your partner, for, looking like a big spender.

Viagogo may be another option....you will need to buy a membership first and they will sell out quick for this game. In fact there is a hospitality package on there now...be prepared to sit down before you check the price though:

I asked my wife if I should sell our season tickets on Viagogo and take a match day package for her Birthday present, but, she much prefers screaming at the away fans through a mouthful of Cornish pasty.

Good luck - I would also advise trying a different game when it will be easier to get tickets - maybe even a champions league match which are midweek evenings - I share a season ticket with family and last season I went to loads of the "smaller games" and loved watching us trounce the opposition, yes the big games are special but there's always the chance we will lose too which can spoil the weekend :-)

be aware - I'm not sure sky have decided which december games will be televised but the Man Utd game 100% will be so it may be moved either to the Sunday or to an earlier or later time on the same day - I guess if you are coming from Australia you're not taking a day trip so probably won't make a difference but I wouldn't book a flight back on the sunday or even the monday just in case you miss it!
